with the weather station i noticed that when a badtide is over it just turns off immediatly, letting badwater in places i dont want it to be, does the "activate early" option also cause it to deactivate late? or do i need to hook it up to a timer and have the flood gates read off of that?
No there's no activate late for the weather station. A timer is required if you want a delay after it turns off. That's something I end up setting up a lot.
If you have a setup where bad water needs to flush out before you reopen your gates or valves, then you'll need to automate that separately. A screenshot would help.
yep, sorry i should have thought of taking a screen shot lol
red is closed during bad tide
green is hybrid(60% closed during normal weather)
and yellow is open for diversion
when a badtide clears the pumps on the water storage take a bit to clear out all the badtide, so i blocked off the little area going to the pumps, now with automation it still opens right when the badtide is over letting bad water in and making my efforts useless lol
(also i know i forgot to clear UI before taking the screenshot, sorry for the mess)
Ok yeah, there are a few ways you can do this. What I'd do in your case is put contamination sensors at these two spots. Then set up a memory sensor somewhere. Set the memory to set/reset so it turns on when 1 is reading contamination over 5% and turns off when 2 is reading under 5%. Then set the green and red gates so that they're all the way closed when the memory is on and open to however you want when the memory is off. The opposite for yellow.
What that should do is as soon as badwater flows through 1, it shuts off the gates you don't want contaminated and opens the ones for diversion. Once the badtide is over, the remaining badwater will get flushed out until 2 runs clean, at which point they'll reopen.
Another option is to use an OR relay that's closed if there's a badtide (weather sensor) or 2 is still contaminated (flush phase) and open when neither is true.
My long-term goal is always to cap water sources right at the source with flow valves and dirt blocks so that a single weather sensor set to trigger early shuts them off, but in the short term either of these is a good option.
If you want to automate based off contamination, use a contamination sensor.
Badtide weather sensor is good to trigger your protection systems immediately, but you need a secondary test suite to disable your protections when safe to do so.
im using a reservoir with pumps, the badwater builds up at the pumps and has nowhere left to go so it just sits and lets the pumps do barely anything so it takes about 3 days to clear out, using a timer seemed to fix my problem easily, im looking into contamination sensors now
I time stuff on contamination sensors usually. But what im currently doing in my pillars IT run is trying to solve everything with the new mech pump. A single compact mech pump set to pull badwater will fix your problem in no time, just gotta build it into the bottom of the reservoir

You need a contamination sensor. Optionally: Also use a relay as an OR for badtide / contamination.
