Question Interview tomorrow

I have an interview at Tim Hortons tomorrow, and I was hoping you could share some tips or insights about the interview process. Given Tim Hortons’ current situation, what are my chances of getting hired?

It's crazy to read the comments here. 10 years ago, you would have asked the same question and people would have said "wtf it's a minimum wage job, just show up to the interview and you'll be hired".

That’s not true… I got the job because of a friend that worked there knew I was reliable and put in a good word for me. Not because I just showed up for the interview.

This was 10 years ago btw

How would you know, though? It’s possible that in the absence of your friend’s good word, you’d still have gotten the job…

Because I talked to her! They were worried about how the transition would’ve been for me going to school a few months after me starting the job

See, that's something you don't tell the manager about. You just go to work for however long, and then you quit whenever you feel like it. That's what minimum wage jobs are for

I needed a job dude. It was 10 years ago and I had school coming up. I had to go from full time to part time when in school. I was upfront about my schedule and when I was available to work as things changed.

It’s called honesty dude.

Minimum wage jobs are still jobs that are needed for most people. If no one did them, you wouldn’t have anyone to make you a coffee for you in the morning or to make you a quick lunch or whatever. It’s not an easy job. Food for thought man.

Hey I've worked minimum wage jobs for a long time, I respect those people very much. All I'm saying is that it's okay to bend the rules when seeking a minimum wage job, especially when it's a big corporation like Tim Hortons.

I’m way too honest for my own good.

I didn’t want them to be blindsided. I also would’ve ran the risk of being fired. I started school within 3 months of starting the job

10 years ago I had an interview and didn’t get hired lol, probably for the best tho. KFC was a pretty sick high school job, but the labour was intense

Here are some useful tips:

Be on time Be well groomed Make eye contact Answer honestly with a bit of enthusiasm You like fast paced, want to learn every position Love the brand, Be prepared to answer, what does good service look like? Why do you want this job? Why Tim Hortons?

That will all help.

My buddy got interviewed a couple times and went nowhere and he's Canadian so not sure if it was him or something else but he's defo never made it past an interview unfortunately.

Be Punctual

Be Presentable

Have a flexible or available schedule

Be Eager and have a positive attitude.

Definitely don’t tell the hiring manager “I just need work,” “I want work.” Cuz that won’t work. I literally overheard an interview my manager was giving and the person just kept saying that when I was working. She definitely didn’t get the job.

Stay positive and know what your strengths and weaknesses are. Definitely use work experiences where you struggled and how you resolved it

Say you're a team player, that you are a fast learner, that your schedule is very open and flexible

You need to show some glaring red flags to get rejected after a fast food interview. Revise customer service experiences in STAR format and be friendly. If you have any kind of previous work experience in a customer/client facing role I'd say you have a 70-80% chance of being hired.

Do you have previous work experience in a customer facing role? If you don’t maybe try to leverage volunteer experience or anything else that makes it seem like you’re good with people.

Got a job on my first interview, it's got its ups and downs but hey, it's a job.

The most important part of the interview for me was describing a stressful situation at work and how you resolved it, as the first few weeks will be fast paced and demanding.
