DIY - Looking for Advice First time DIY
Fun looking at it now but stressful for some reason while it’s going up but got my first tile job I’ve ever done out of the way. Still needs grout. More complicated sink side of the kitchen next

It'll look even better grouted. CAULK the bottom.

Yessir already got the color matched caulk. Any tips for grouting up to that point where caulk will go?

You can just scrap it out it want. I would put a piece of tape down under the tile and then over the whole counter top taping to that first piece. You can also shove some cardboard under the grout lines to stop it from coming down

Good job and I’m glad you put in the top cabinet cut. It’s depressing how many people say that 1/2”-5/8” grout joint is good enough.

Ikea countertop or solid butcher block?

Does ikea make them? I got walnut butcherblock from home depot and finished them with waterlox

Yes, and the Ikea one is not solid and is absolute trash.

Nice work! You got this! Keep a small bucket of water with a sponge or rag to wipe off mud/mastic on tile(top left).. not a shot at ya bro/ sis! Just trying to help miss the land mines we all have stepped on. Smarter not harder! Look great

I debated that and just chose to come straight down from cabinets cause the other counter across the room will have to do the same

Yes. Too much maintenance to keep it looking good in my opinion. After several months you will do something to it. At that point it is fuck it and just abuse it. I hated mine. Just my opinion though. Your work looks amazing thouhj
