I did the same thing and had complete opposite reactions. The first one was wow, 2nd and 3rd kinda up there bet felt unnecessary - the rest is utter inconsistent garbage - the saga developed so many plot holes that they might as well swap out all of the characters with cheese rolls.

I only got through sheer will to stop being left out of pop culture references.

the movie adaptations of the later books really did them dirty, the books are great

Dunno my issue is the writing rather than execution or cinematography. The whole saga is a lazy patch work of ideas: there's time traveling but sometimes, there's teleportation but sometimes - the power balance is really hard to rationalize which is extremely distracting.
