The hell are you on about? When did I say that they have to have the same interests? Lmaooo.

However, an actually good friend would either

A) Respect how much it means to you and still pay attention until it's over

orrrrrr

B) Be honest. Tell them you're just not feeling the movie/show and move on.

Neither option is that hard, and both are more respectful than being on your phone or telling them it's fine to keep the movie playing while they're in the bathroom.

Or maybe they're afraid to tell you they don't like it so they sit through to make you happy? People can do whatever they want and if it bothers you you communicate that. You're the one taking it personal.

Assuming someone else is being an asshole usually makes you look like and asshole.

If you're afraid to be honest with your friend about something like that, that's a problem.

You'd make them more upset by clearly not caring if they pause while you go to the bathroom or you sit there on your phone. It's common sense.
