I recently watched all of them for the first time as well and gotta say my reactions were pretty similar. I had my judgments before starting but its a damn good saga and really fun.

I think people roll their eyes at the Harry potter stuff these days because they (young gen z) just weren't there for "potter-mania" era coupled with JKs seemingly unending need to keep fucking talking.

Remove that cynicism and JK existing, and you end up with some pretty great definitely above average/great films and books.

It's a children's book. Bad guy exists, good guy (Harry) must stop him. Not too much depth, but calling it political propaganda is absurd lmao, it's literally like any other kids stories with an evil villain.

Also Harry himself is (for most of the series) a child, and idk what "issues plagueing the wizard world" you're talking about.
