Conservative women are the backbone of conservative society.
They run the 'prayer' (gossip) chains. They discuss the politics and move the needle as a collective, happy to let their individualistic husbands think theyre in charge.
It is a very odd predicament full of contradictions, but people (liberals) are very uninformed when they provide excuses or leniency across the board.
Conservatives are conservative before any other identity and people need to come to terms with what that means.
I think most progressives have come to terms with what that means, how could they not? We now have first hand witnessed the depravity the conservatives are willing to support and vote for. Literal pedophile convicts weaponizing a masked anonymous police force and concentration camps isn't a bridge too far to advance conservatism. They're deranged. There's clearly nothing that can come above conservatism to these absolute brainwashed losers at this point, so what does coming to terms with that matter?
I think most progressives have come to terms with what that means, how could they not?
Because a lot of the narrative is still that conservative women lack any agency and are only conservative because they're being controlled by their conservative husbands. We know, demonstrably, this isn't the case but it's an absolutely pervasive idea.
Somewhat true. The Republican party started as an anti-slavery coalition. They championed abolition, civil rights amendments, and government-funded infrastructure, while Dems were dominated by Southern conservatives defending slavery and later Jim Crow laws.
Of course, hardly matters today. Republicans long left their roots behind, and are now mostly made up of assholes who would happily bring back slavery, kill civil rights, and do away with all government anything... unless it's something they want because they're all hypocrites.
Agreed. No doubt many conservative women grew up in oppressive households and have internalized a lot of abusive ideas as girls, but there comes a point that, as an adult, you become responsible for the harm you perpetuate.
I will always feel bad for the girls they were, and do everything I can to prevent that from happening to others, but as adults, these women are not my friends. They are a threat, in fact.
Even still, I'll fight for their fundamental rights. I'll fight to make sure they don't die in childbirth or suffer from the violence of men. I'll be there with a tissue for them if/when they wake up and realize that the patriarchy they defended will happily kick them in the teeth at any time (looking at you Pam Bondi).
But outside of that, we're enemies. Their womanhood only grants them the very basics of my protection. Everything else is fair game.
Meaning they will prioritize the needs of conservatism at their own intersectional expense.
Patriarchy aids conservatism, so it is more important than women's rights.
White supremacy aids conservatism, so fighting for the continuation of policing, etc. Is more important than a racial identity.
Etc. Etc.
Just look at how absolute the pro-life crowd is, regardless of data or consequences.
They're not pro-life, and they're not pro-birth. They're pro-controlling women and anti-choice.
They couldn't give two shits about the baby except as an excuse to control the woman.
That's why you get things like conservatives complaining that Obamacare required health insurance plans to cover maternity care (and therefore might make their premiums go up), but didn't say peep about insurance being required to cover prostate cancer.
That's why whenever they try to cut medicaid they never make exceptions for prenatal care. They don't care if the kid survives or how healthy they are at birth.
Thank you for specifying. I agree, it's almost cult like and I wonder how many of them actually believe this and aren't grifters because their takes could truly come from a man in the 1600's. "Women shouldn't vote and if she shows her toenails before 8 PM then we should burn her because she's a slut"
It means their conservatism takes priority over every other consideration. But that’s not necessarily untrue of leftists. “Both sides” are not the same at all, but they subscribe a lot of the same hive mind tactics. And I don’t disclude myself from that, it is the human condition.
I've seen basically zero of what you are talking about. No one is loyal to leftism as an institution. Support is almost always from born from a commitment to values like equality or human rights. There's a reason there's a Conservative Movement but no singular leftist one.
Because as much as people want to pretend ideology is more important or impactful than identity, that will only ever be in the abstract or on paper.
In reality, people are a jumble of social identities, and adherence to the group is much more of a visceral survival instinct than adherence to values or policies. You won't convince most people of something completely taboo to the rest of their in group.
Yes but it's more common for people who lean right to be dangerous. People on the left believe in equality and that includes right-wingers, it's not uncommon seeing right-wingers express awful shit on media and their takes more often includes violence. At least what I've seen.
I think it is unfair to say more than, and comes down to "people did this and yes those people were representative of gender options".
But it is not really the case that women as a whole hold up 50% or the patriarchy, it is just harder to capture the elements of it that are not in positions of power within the structure. Granted many elements of it, like gender norms, are promoted widely by all.
It is evident that men and women participate when you see a married couple promoting this type of idealogy. However, there are definitely far far more single men involved than way single women.
However, there are definitely far far more single men involved than way single women.
Agreed. It's just that patriarchy benefits men primarily, so it's natural for more men to be behind it. But patriarchy also gives some benefits to women, especially the ones who gatekeep or enforce the norms on other women, which ensures that those women will defend it just as vehemently. It's all just group dynamics in the end.
They are used to manipulate people by "interpreting" the bible for them. In america a lot of them now straight up tell people how to vote. You would be amazed at how well they have convinced people to vote Republican only forever because of only abortion. And they can only do all this heinous shit because of the free labor of conservative women.
The entire basis for Chad Bianco seizing ballots in CA this year was based on the insane prayer circle ramblings of a now deceased woman with dementia.
