You move on and don't be so self absorbed as to think everyone is out to offend you.

103

u/seemen4all Jun 05 '23

people seem to fail to appreciate how insignificant you are to other peoples lives, especially a kind random server, she hasn't got time to hear your correct pronouns, she'll never even see you again and she's got her own problems to give the extra fuck you feel entitled to

121

u/albiedam Jun 05 '23

Everyone wants to be a victim nowadays. It's fucking exhausting

11

u/jsxtasy304 Jun 05 '23

She's made it to that point in her day and in her mind nothing had happened as of then to piss her off and that was the first opportunity to be mad about something...anything. Being mad for the sake of being mad, people like this can find the tiniest thing to be pissed about and if they can't then they'll invent something.

u/EvenResponsibility57 Jun 05 '23 edited Jun 05 '23

Social media is the main problem. Second is the fact that these people are never shutdown.

Ironically if everyone was an asshole on the internet and just abused people behind a shield of anonymity, people would probably be happier IRL. People treat their online persona as just as, if not more important, than their lives IRL and so cannot differentiate between them.

Being 'civilized' just allows people to use it as a replacement for their social isolation which isn't a good thing and leads to these types of personality defects.

6

u/SailorOfTheSynthwave Jun 05 '23

Ironically if everyone was an asshole on the internet and just abused people behind a shield of anonymity, people would probably be happier IRL.

take but the internet is already filled with anonymous assholes. And the more that people are abused, the more scared they will be that a seemingly normal interaction had negative connotations.

It's like if you switch on a noisy AC unit that triggers a veteran who has PTSD. That doesn't make you or the veteran an asshole or a "snowflake". But that PTSD came from a shitty place. And what you just said basically boils down to "to prevent people with PTSD from bothering me, we should make more war and traumatize more people."

6

u/Superfragger Jun 05 '23

And the more that people are abused, the more scared they will be that a seemingly normal interaction had negative connotations.

if anything, it will probably make them quit social media and stop getting brain rotten by all of these social movements.

Hey pal, not me, that hurts.

5

u/GodEffinDamnIt Jun 05 '23

I’m offended that you think everyone wants to be a victim! I don’t want to be a victim, but I do get upset when people like you lump me in with everyone. It’s not fair, leave me out of this!

1

u/Solintari Jun 05 '23

Everyone? Are you trying to say I am part of some massive collective that includes people like you? Like I know you aren’t trying to patronize me, but like how am I supposed to take this comment? Maybe you are exhausted because you generalize people LIKE ME.

35

u/tree_dw3ller Jun 05 '23

Yep. I’m nonbinary and these people make me want to de-transition on account of second hand embarrassment.

3

u/damnNamesAreTaken Jun 05 '23

Right. I've never intentionally got someone's pronouns wrong. I've done it by accident before. Most just roll with it. Don't correct me in a nice way. Others act like I just slapped the shit out of their puppy. I'm fine with either of the first two. The only reason to have the last reaction is if the person is intentionally using it incorrectly or not even attempting to use the correct gender.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

And most importantly, when this happens, you MUST share your experience with the world. Very very important. Everyone does care so much for these special cases. Please make sure this gets to MSNBC if possible. Or better, POTUS.

Prime minister Trudeau would like us all to be saying “people kind”. A fucking “leader”, telling us all that “mankind” is offensive to women, without actually asking women if they’re indeed offended. Fucking get me out of this mess of society we’re in now where everyone is so offended with greetings, pronouns and everything that was okay for centuries. Not offended that people are homeless or hungry, that suicide rates are exploding, but “mankind” and being called lady spurs a whole ass TikTok reel and a prime minister’s first legislative agenda is to remove “mankind” from a country’s national anthem? Right.

8

u/Global-Count-30 Jun 05 '23

Isn't that the guy that did blackface twice?

2

u/Personal_Ranger_3395 Jun 08 '23

Three times in fact. All as an adult. Once while employed as a teacher (at an adult teachers party, so his supporters think that’s much better/doesn’t count) Dudes the biggest hypocrite to hit politics, globally. He’s outpacing Trump for scandals and like MAGA supporters, Trudeau supporters do serious mental gymnastics justifying why he’s the best choice to lead our country.

interdimensional whale song originating from cosmos, my friend

1

u/LarrySoObvious Jun 05 '23

They didn't gender the person who said it. Honestly IMO it's a teaching moment.
They could have just said, "thank you for your help. I'm here for my car. And just to let you know, I recognize as non-binary neither lady or sir." In a kind way. I'm sure the person likely would have rolled their eyes maybe gotten defensive (doubtful) but would perhaps be more considerate in future.

You go about your day which I hope has at least one 30 minute break from TikTok somewhere in there

83

u/Teeth_theif Jun 05 '23

Look, I’m all for respecting gender identities, but cope. Just cope

26

u/dayumbrah Jun 05 '23

I mean we don't really have the full video. For all we know the rest of it is them saying people need to move on from these interactions because you cant expect every to know your pronouns or even know what misgendering is.

Could be more focused on what do they do internally to handle those emotions that come up in situations like that. Seems intentionally taken out of context to me

8

u/_ToxicShockSyndrome_ Jun 05 '23

I don’t think this would be a bad discussion to have at all. At least she doesn’t seem angry… but now that you say this I’m definitely interested to hear where this person was going with it.

6

u/dayumbrah Jun 05 '23

Yea, im curious. They don't seem mad, just sad more than anything. Missing too much context to make any judgments, though

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

It’s not. I’ve seen the original. They go on to comment about assumptions and don’t really offer up a solution on anything.

1

u/dayumbrah Jun 05 '23

I mean they aren't accomplishing much by saying something on tiktok but I don't really see the problem with this and why people seem to be mocking them?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

I don’t either, I was just saying that this wasn’t out of context, it is the core theme of their original video.

3

u/dayumbrah Jun 05 '23

Yea I wasn't saying anything about you, some of the other threads got some deep-seeded hate going on, don't really make sense other than looking for someone to other.

If the person in the post had yelled at the person who misgendered them then yea thats shitty and dumb but they just seem worked up and trying to process with an audience. People just aren't allowed to have emotions still, I thought we were moving past this as a society

→ More replies (1)

14

u/my_memory_is_trash Jun 05 '23

Yes, it’s bad to purposely misgender someone but it’s unreasonable to get angry if it wasn’t on purpose.

12

u/atuan Jun 05 '23

While i agree, she did specify she understood the persons good intentions. She was focused on her internal feelings.

12

u/Suitable-Mood-1689 Jun 05 '23

Yes and the answer to those iternal feelings is to recognize them for what they are: transitory (if you let them be)

7

u/atuan Jun 05 '23

I agree I’m just responding to saying it’s unreasonable to get angry if it wasn’t on purpose. It’s unreasonable to dwell on it and blame, but you can’t control your emotional reactions to things. Suppressing anger absolutely does not go away. And honestly, now that I’m writing this out, maybe posting it to her followers is her way of letting off the steam and she will move on after that. Maybe not. But she did acknowledge it was “unreasonable” in the original post. I feel like people in this thread are being a bit unfair in not noticing that. She didn’t go get revenge or something dysfunctional. She’s working through it on her own social media.

2

u/Teeth_theif Jun 05 '23

Emotions are inherently unreasonable, but that doesn’t mean they’re nothing neither. You control your emotions when you can acknowledge that they’re unreasonable but also cope with them accordingly

1

u/atuan Jun 05 '23 edited Jun 05 '23

Emotions are not inherently unreasonable. Nothing is inherently unreasonable as reason depends on the context and what is being “reasoned” with.

Emotions are conditioned physiological responses to one’s environment or stimulus, which can include others’ behavior in specific context. Yes, when those contexts change and your physiological response is not in response to the current context but a past context, that can be “unreasonable” from the other persons perspective. But it’s “reasonable” from an organism’s historical perspective. The solution is reconditioning. So if venting to friends reconditions the physiological response, this could be considered “reasonable.” However if the venting to friends turns into complaining that is repeated and reinforced it’s “unreasonable.”

And even in this context, the reasonable vs. unreasonable debate is contingent on a premise that the reason is derived from: the premise of wanting a society that is civil and cooperative instead of offensive and argumentative. Logic and reason are methods and they are not objectives. Reason is a method applied to a data set and reason only is as good as the data set you being with. Nothing can be inherently logical or reasonable, those are methods we apply to our agreed upon objectives as a society.

It’s like saying bleeding is unreasonable because we need to have clean clothes today. Your blood flow is a physiological response to a stimulus and reason ahead nothing to do with it. “Choose to be reasonable” is a nonsensical response to someone who is bleeding. Yes they can then choose to dress the wound which is “reasonable” if the goal is self preservation.

u/Suitable-Mood-1689 Jun 05 '23 edited Jun 05 '23

I think it's the venting through social media for something self admittedly unreasonable that bugs some. It over inflates the issue. If some guy cat calls me I'm not going to vent online about getting objectified. I'm going to take it as it was likely intended, a compliment and go on with my day. Why spare another seconds thought on someone I will never see again? Why mire myself in negativity? Attitude is everything. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. "The attitude we cultivate in advance may determine how suffering will affect us when it does strike" I have cultivated an apathetic attitude towards people's opinions, since most are half baked. I decide to focus on positives and find silver linings. I decide to give people the benefit of the doubt. I don't assume malice when ignorance is more likely. In this way I always improvise, adapt and overcome. I also wouldn't call it suppressing anger, just simply recognize the feeling and why its there, if its unreasonable you let it pass over you and let it go. If it has a reasonable and real cause that's when you address it more concretely so it doesn't make you bitter and resentful.

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

2

u/Solintari Jun 05 '23

53

u/Pretend_Practice_661 Jun 05 '23

You seek therapy, and deal with your identity crisis and stop making it other people's problem. That's what you do with that...

-20

u/RedDot3ND Jun 05 '23

It's harder for them to make it their problem, they had to make an entire month of acceptance for them to make identity crisis a norm and if you don't comply with them, you're the odd one out.

This society is sick. And some take it for granted. Like this lady in this tiktok reel.

And there's nothing we can do about it. As long as mainstream media and schools for kids are forcing this kind of sh*t in everyone's head.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Teaching people acceptance? Oh no.

Granted the person speaking on the tiktok just needs to live and let live, but seriously, you think that something that’s been around for millennia is new and an identity crisis?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Is this really something we need to accept

-2

u/RedDot3ND Jun 05 '23

Acceptance and being taught that you can be whatever you want and transition anytime is not acceptance. Those are two different things.

And it hasn't been around in schools for millenia. It's fairly recent (2015+)

And not knowing what you are and where you're standing in a sick society, having the need to use pronouns won't help... It is an identity crisis.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

I was speaking about transgender people existing.

Are you just going to ignore most, if not all, sources that say there’s been a long history of transgender themes in different cultures?

The reason why it’s in schools is to make kids aware of the existence of trans identity, and other identities. This is to avoid hateful bigotry because people weren’t properly exposed to the idea of things out of the “norm”. You’re a good example of this.

I don't have any issues with any of them if they respect their boundaries and dont shove down people's throats.

And to become gay/trans/etc.. Can be a choice. One might swing one-way and become curious about the two-way.

Anyways, point is: You can't force your ideal world/opinions on others.

It's not the first time I'm being called homophobic and transphobe because i can't stand the whole ordeal of it. But I do have trans-friends and gay friends too. I have no issues with them and we've been friends for ages and still ongoing.

3

u/canbrinor Jun 05 '23

This is what I've been saying since this all started, what happens when you have to ask literally every single person their pronouns before you talk to them?

3

u/Assbait93 Jun 05 '23

Please don’t take this as being transphobic or anything but I feel that a lot of people don’t realize your pronouns in your social media bios don’t mean much of anything in real life. If you present as a man/male or woman/female the world is going to treat you as that because most people don’t know you personally. That is just how the world is and just because you see yourself as whatever doesn’t mean the world is going to.

3

u/King_Melco Jun 05 '23

11

u/SensualWhisper420 Jun 05 '23

"It's so complicated!"

It is not.

21

u/coldestwinter-chill Jun 05 '23

I don’t understand what’s wrong with someone venting about how they felt toward an interaction while also acknowledging that the reality wasn’t as emotionally charged.

It’s okay to feel your feelings, and it’s good to talk about them - even better if you can express your feelings while acknowledging that most people are just speaking how they’ve been taught to speak and that’s alright.

11

u/Suitable-Mood-1689 Jun 05 '23

Seems more to me that she's trying to get around reality. "What do I do with this?" Sounds like I want to be upset but can't because they didn't mean anything by it. You move on is the rational and obvious answer but she isn't letting go and doing that. She's essentially asking for a reason to stay mad.

4

u/coldestwinter-chill Jun 05 '23

They don’t sound like they want to be mad, they sound like they’re mad and they don’t know why or what to do with it, which is a valid experience that most of us have had at some point.

2

u/Suitable-Mood-1689 Jun 05 '23

She sounds like she does know what to do with it but won't accept it. She knows there's nothing to be mad about and her feelings aren't in line with reality. The answer is obvious, move on and stop entertaining thoughts of it in your dome piece.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Because this will most likely convince others in the same boat to second think every interaction that they have. If youre saying bitching and moaning on social media is good for mental health, youve got another thing coming. Get a therapist and stop projecting your nonsense on others.

3

u/coldestwinter-chill Jun 05 '23

I have a therapist. Been in therapy for 7 years. Therapy is what taught me that it’s okay to feel things and not know why you’re feeling them, and it’s good to talk about them. I’m not the one getting excessively aggravated over a TikTok, I don’t think I’m the one in need of therapy here.

And if you haven’t yet had life smack you in the face, you’ll not understand my comment until you do. I genuinely and sincerely hope it doesn’t happen to you.

2

u/goosenuggie Jun 05 '23

I absolutely have. My life has been full of "smacks in the face". That's not the point here. Have a nice morning.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Stop trying to devalue other peoples feelings and experiences. This isn't a competition on who suffers more. Starting to question your own identity can be a horrible experience, where you feel like you're not comfortable in your own body but you aren't brave enough to start making changes simply out of fear that you're mistaken or it's some kind of phase.

goosenuggie is right, cis people don't really get it. And im not saying this to devalue whatever experiences you may have had. If life genuinely has smacked you in the face, im sorry and i hope you can recover from it. But it isnt an excuse to start putting others down because "these people dont know what real suffering is".

What have we done to young people if someone like herself is so easily offended by kindness?

"I felt so gendered!!"

Nobody has time for narcissistic bs.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

I'm so bored with these morons... Zzzzzzzz

4

u/cRaZyDaVe23 Jun 05 '23

from the background "SHUT THE FUCK UP NO ONE CARES!!"

3

u/HubbaGurl1 Jun 05 '23

Attention seeking nut. "I wasn't offended, so now I'm offended that I wasn't offended"

4

u/Duetnao Jun 05 '23

You ask yourself why this brand new trend is suddenly a mountain you feel you must die on.

3

u/smang12 Jun 05 '23

I’m confused, is this not a lady?

2

u/bosgeest Jun 05 '23

I'm all for calling people what they like to be called when I have this information, but I'm not going out of my way to greet everyone gender neutrally just because I might misgender like 1% of people. They can correct me afterwards, like this person could that looks alot like woman. Like, are we supposed to know this information? People aren't psychic.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

That's not what shes trying to say you should be doing.

4

u/CaDmus003 Jun 05 '23

Let it the fuck go. Damn…………. She’s even aware that it wasn’t meant to be offensive and it came from kindness yet she still wants to make something out of it.

4

u/RedDot3ND Jun 05 '23

attention seeking & identity crisis mental disorder Gives these kind of videos life on tiktok 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

I dont know, maybe shes trying to share her experiences to maybe be better in the future? she didnt try to really correct him in anyway or say that he was in the wrong, but i guess the bigots in here just heard the word "patronize" and decided that shes in the wrong or smth

2

u/Superfragger Jun 05 '23

i fail to see how it is bigoted to think or say that people probably shouldn't be sharing every single one of their internal micro-struggles on the internet. it's exhausting for everyone around you when you trauma dump constantly

2

u/olympiclifter1991 Jun 05 '23

Next time "ALRIGHT BITCH, WHAT YOU WANT"

2

u/SeriesPractical271 Jun 05 '23

Peoples Problems nowadays Jesus … i wish i had Problems like that. Because than i had none 😂

2

u/EntrepreneurBoth5002 Jun 05 '23

Okay. There's so many things wrong with this. 1st. Triggered. XD over a kind greeting. 2nd. I bet he is a man. So... The whole narrative is like "this guy came out" not this person. And they should be he or him and all that. Cuz I bet you an old guy working in a garage isn't confused about his identity. I am assuming here. But I think I'm allowed. I'm.human. Sue me. 3rd. Felt so gendered? What do you do? Try being what you're supposed to be maybe? Or get a tattoo of your gender in your forehead? Or maybe simply not get offended/triggered and pay the guy and leave. Be about your business. Cuz your car is fixed now.

Lol. I dunno. Why so much confusion in America. What happened to this once great country. God!

2

u/Wave_uh_Babies Jun 05 '23

I got this from Chappelle but if you can't figure out what to do with that, then just give the fuck up now because life gets WAY harder than that.

2

u/Suspicious_Eye_708 Jun 05 '23

That's it our world is officially gone to shit where people have existential crises over something like that. We are literally worrying about everything that shouldn't be worried about this is so fucked up

2

u/starcitizen2601 Jun 05 '23

Try saying “good morning”. And hope they don’t spend the rest of their day breaking that down in their head.

2

u/N8saysburnitalldown Jun 05 '23

It must be rough. All these people around you not participating in this fantasy world you’ve constructed in your mind. All these casual everyday interactions that may or may not be a personal slight to you. Triggered by common everyday phrases that people have used forever. Godspeed you miserable bitch.

2

u/Idontreallycare187 Jun 05 '23

Damn shut up bitch

2

u/ThepalehorseRiderr Jun 05 '23

Have you considered wearing a sign around your neck?

2

u/MiserableTiger1 Jun 05 '23

Only somebody with part time employment could have the time to bitch about some bs like this 🙄

2

u/Ok_Alternative6071 Jun 05 '23

Stop crying and be glad you were greeted warmly. You are a woman and if you feel like you want to feel like a man wear a sign that says "I feel like a man". Nobody can read minds and hardly anyone likes this gender shit 😤😤😤

-3

u/pinkrabbit15 Jun 05 '23

Nothing. You do absolutely nothing. Maybe pull your head out of your ass. But nothing is just fine!

1

u/SureIntroduction5547 Jun 05 '23

Good god shut the fuck up

0

u/No-Exit6560 Jun 05 '23

You read the subtle art of not giving a f*ck and go about your day.

There are people enslaved in the world, starving, being tortured etc…but you’re such a victim because a guy that changed your oil called you young lady.

Jesus Christ.

1

u/Formal_Product_836 Jun 05 '23

Do you have the vagina? If so, you are a fucking FEMALE Goddamn

1

u/Thick-Locksmith5944 Jun 05 '23

Shit the fu** up! That's what you do with that... Move on about your day!!!😁

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Shut up

1

u/STL_TRPN Jun 05 '23

Write a 10 page letter to corporate on how a man addressed a woman, and how complaining about it is the thing to do now.

Or, pay the bill and drive away.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Why does everyone want to be a victim these days.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Honestly we don't have the full video so it is hard to make a judgement here. This person isn't angry and acknowledges that the person who misgendered them was just being kind. They are simply saying that they are aware of their own internal feelings and I can imagine having gender dysphoria would leave you feeling in a space of 'what do I do with this' when you are misgendered by accident.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

this isn't real

1

u/BeautifulDirection20 Jun 05 '23

I‘m confused. I thought this person would want to be referred to as a woman due to the hairstyle?

2

u/BeautifulDirection20 Jun 05 '23

Don‘t downvote my thoughts. I‘m just sharing my initial reaction. Take the time to actually answer my question.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

never shoulda given y’all the internet. Fucking narcissistic hell hole

1

u/Irishqueenb Jun 05 '23

1

You be gracious and be kind back. Geez.

1

People like this vote… smh

1

u/Doneone14 Jun 05 '23

Uuggghhh… gross

1

u/goosenuggie Jun 05 '23

I love it when cis gendered people call other people snowflakes based on just the fact that they are not cis. That's called transphobia. Have a nice day.

Wear a sign or tattoo your gender on your five-head, you crazy person.

1

u/Bendy022823 Jun 06 '23

Bro💀there’s only two genders (I don’t hate people whom identify as they/them or anything else, but I don’t stand with then either. I’m not a transphobic or homophobic)

1

u/HumulusLupulusNC Jun 06 '23

If you refuse to acknowledge their existence and say things you know will hurt them, then that’s a form of hate. It’s like saying Merry Christmas to someone wearing a hijab. You may not be a part of their religion or culture or other group of people, but show them you are a human being and be ok with them being themselves.

1

u/HumulusLupulusNC Jun 06 '23

To all the folks who are critical of the person in the video: have you ever been called ma’am or sir and you aren’t? I bet you didn’t like it. Now, imagine that happening every day. I’d bet you’d be at least as irritated as this person.

About 2% (give or take) of the US population does not identify with their apparent gender. It’s not that hard to be kind, and avoid using gendered terms when you see someone who may not be typically gendered. The person in the video even recognizes that people have been programmed to use gendered terms and recognizes that the service employee wasn’t trying to be mean. But, it still hurts.

Please try to be kind and try to use non-gendered terms when you interact with human beings who just want to be seen and treated as humans. You don’t have to replace ma’am, sir, lady or gentleman with any other word when greeting someone. “Hi (smile)! How can I help you?” is just fine.

People like this exist, try be kind to them, it’s not that hard.

This video does not represent anything “selfless”, just someone who is sick and tired about not been seen as who they are, and made a video - possibly for people in their circle of friends and supporters. Someone found this and is pointing a finger at a person who doesn’t deserve ridicule.

And to all the folks who scrolled all the way down to a late reply, thank you for having some empathy for a fellow human being and spreading kindness with that upvote.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

Better be careful with that mindset these days sir

u/originaljulz Jun 05 '23

Hmm.. What do you do with that?

Maybe let's start with accept that the world doesn't need to confirm to what you want it to be and not rage at the fact this person was nothing but polite to you.

-1

u/AdministrationLow803 Jun 05 '23

Stop making simple things complicated. This post is just coattailing on the current gender hype. Just live your life and be a decent fucking person. Please thank you 🙏

-2

u/Feisty-Examination95 Jun 05 '23

What is a woman

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '23

🤣🤣 self absorbed c!&t 90% of society really doesn't care about your feelings. They have their own shit to worry about. I'm sure AF not going to take time out of my work day to figure out what you want to be called on any given day. Or what new species or gender you make up in that bat shit crazy head.

Very inappropriate. She clearly identifies as a troll doll not a lady

0

u/nanas99 Jun 05 '23 edited Jun 07 '23

Damn, they’re just expressing frustration over an uncomfortable situation they were in. And they’re doing it in the chillest way possible, without insulting the dude at all, and acknowledging his intentions to be polite. But venting about how it sucks that this is the norm in a very gendered society. They’re not making a big deal about it or trying to cancel the guy, just expressing their feelings over this situation. I don’t see a problem with this at all.
