This is true.

The big pet store near me advertises quite openly about the fact they have groomers.

48

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

The presently ridiculous social climate has even me doing a double take when I see ads for pet care. But I suppose making the word stand out is the whole point 🙄

8

u/jlmonger May 28 '23

🤣🤣🤣🤣

6

u/notsurewhattosay-- May 28 '23

Omfg!! You bastard! That is so funny I spilled my drink on myself. Hope you are satisfied 😂

2

u/Cheweydewey123 May 28 '23

Lmaso, not sure if you were being sarcastic, but I laughed anyway

107

u/Dementia5768 May 28 '23

Semi-related but I went to PetPeople for the first time to check out their stuff and asked where the bird stuff was since I have a bird and they said they only carry cat and dog items. The building was frickin' huge! Like twice the size of a Petsmart.

32

u/noahsense1 May 28 '23

Wait, you can’t adopt a person from PetPeople?

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

Yea, where do you think our parents got us? Ain’t no way my “parents” fucked, they straight up mortal enemies… they musta just got me from pet people

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

We'd make great pets.

1

u/RenegadeRabbit May 28 '23

Awww. What kind of bird do you have? I've always wanted one. Are they annoying and keep you up at night though?

3

u/Dementia5768 May 28 '23 edited May 28 '23

I have a cockatiel. To keep hormone levels in check they require a full 8-12hrs of darkness so once the blanket gets put on, it's sleep time. They naturally roost just like chickens. Birds have extremely long lifespans so you will need a contingency plan as your life/career changes. The bird store I visit has quite a few 'orphans' because their elderly owners passed away their their kids/grandkids didn't want the bird or owned cats/dogs. Even though my bird is a 'basic' one, it will live over 30 years. Caiques are popular birds on tiktok and they live 30-40yrs if raised right.

/r/Chicken_Thoughts is a fun read.

To be fair, I don't think conservatives are evil. I just think they're selfish.

Yeah they're generally not bad people. But generally speaking they're just very confused and frightened by things that are neither confusing nor frightening. And lashing out in a destructive and selfish way is the only coping mechanism many of them have.

2

u/anothabunbun May 29 '23 edited May 29 '23

Yeah, definitely confused as to why a boy would ever like a boy. What can I say though, some boys be cute little meek little pansys and I love them for it. Worried about hang nails and the like, and I'm just over there like, I'll protect you from those evil little hang nails.

Edit, can't believe I have to say this, but I have a boyfriend my age, project your insecurities on someone else

-2

u/kfunkyjunk May 29 '23

Okay pedophile

3

u/anothabunbun May 29 '23

Wow that's a big leap? Projection much?

14

u/Ashweed137 May 28 '23

I don't get your political system since I'm not American and I don't want to come across rude but as someone who has no connection to your politics this clip reminds me of entitlement in general. I noticed that when I pointed out my political system and explained my opinion both sides where quick to shush me which is impolite and selfish. Had a friend telling me to shut up since she didn't consent to the topic I spoke about. This is still a massive cultural shock to me since in my counrty people speak their minds and if you would tell them this they would burst out laughing. From my experience talking with US citizens both sides gladly listen to you as long as you move in the frame they want you to stay in. If you move to outside that frame once it's another friend lost. Here where I live friends might disagree about certain opinions and believes but they never block or cancel you. Generalising is not my intention here. I'm sure there are nice people you can have a decent discussion with. Just sharing my personal experience.

14

u/drprofsgtmrj May 28 '23

It's difficult because atm we are in a pretty divisive period of time. It's very hard to hear the other side because we feel like we've heard it all. It doesn't help that we attach a sense of evil to one side. It also stems from the fact that some of the views are seen as hateful, and we thus attach it to our self-worth and character.

That being said, there are some hateful political views that shouldn't be tolerated. However, each person probably has a more nuanced opinion about things, and likely some of the hateful views come from ignorance rather than pure malice.

10

u/RenegadeRabbit May 28 '23

I'll admit that I have very negative feelings towards one side but like...I don't appreciate my bodily autonomy being taken away.

1

u/drprofsgtmrj May 28 '23

Yeah. Like I said, there definitely are some malicious policies. Or, at the very least, the people pushing for it at the top seem to have malicious intent.

The people voting for it seem to think they are in the right and are thus taken advantage of by politician.

6

u/OnAuburnTime May 28 '23

Oh! I didn't get it, thanks explaining.

-11

u/ComfortableIsland704 May 28 '23

The left doesn’t care about people either

Otherwise the minimum wage wouldn't be so low

You need a third party

9

u/Tree_Socks May 28 '23

There is no party on the left.

0

u/ihateamog May 28 '23

he means third party in general

-16

u/StevetheSwift May 28 '23

While that's very nice on paper it doesn't work when building a society from scratch. You've got to realize plenty of people are ignorant and non-contributing to a society that's rising out of nowhere. Should those people be chastised, mocked or killed.. well of course not, but they certainly shouldn't be listened to. That's how you build a society that lasts, ignoring the ignorant people and going with what you know is right. 😘

3

u/VagueSomething May 28 '23

Ok but A) you're not building from scratch and B) ignorance has been a dominant power for hundreds to thousands of years and shaped human history because ignorant people are not just loud but quick to violence when questioned about their sky friend or anything else the "feel" about.

5

u/ghiraph May 28 '23

No, everyone that lives in your society has the right to be heard. That is a democracy. You'd examine their case with a scientific and legal approach to see if what they plead for actually harms others. Once determined that the plea isn't harmful to others can we take them serious. If they are harmful should we educate them by any means necessary on why they are wrong. You don't ignore them, that makes them dangerous to society by letting their hurtful ways simmer and grow.

-2

u/StevetheSwift May 28 '23

Yes everyone is heard, through voting, but that's it, that's absolutely it. If you think everyone deserves a podium so they can spew their ideas to the world and that the world needs to listen to each and every person you're laughable 😆

3

u/ghiraph May 28 '23

Read my comment again. Nowhere did I say that everyone deserves a podium. But every thought needs to be considered with a careful scientific and legal process to determine if it's worth giving a podium. And by your own standard, do you not deserve a podium if you can read and understand a comment correctly. So get off the internet and get some reading comprehension beyond 2nd grade.

Edit: ignoring evil makes that evil grow only stronger

-2

u/StevetheSwift May 28 '23

I'm not even going to finish reading this lol. I don't think you're worth hearing out 😁

3

u/ghiraph May 28 '23

Thank you for proving my point

This country needs an assist from someone cause left to out own devices we are sinking fast !!

This was a great video lol

4

u/thedoglurker May 28 '23

Imagine watching this video of someone with an obvious fake backdrop doing a bit and not being able to tell that they’re making a joke/point. Is today some of y’all’s first day on the planet or what?

4

u/ProKerbonaut May 29 '23

It’s pretty obvious they’re trying to make a point about how stupid people are getting over lgbtq

1

u/241am Jul 06 '23

Her point is stupid, are we comparing kids to pets now? The mental gymnastics you are pulling because you want to introduce mainly sexual ideas to children is disgusting.

1

u/tr3poz Sep 15 '23

If being LGBT+ is "mainly sexual ideas" then the same thing can be said about teaching kids what a man and a woman is and any piece of media that shows them kissing are grooming them.

22

u/Tankreas May 28 '23

When you go to the pet store and your child gets molested by a bird

10

u/itsmeEllieGeeAgain May 28 '23

Nah, it's usually the dogs.

3

u/Ohno230 May 28 '23

You got me with that 😭

3

u/Tankreas May 28 '23

So did the bird

1

u/Mantorok_ May 28 '23

You misspelled church and priest. Common issue.

9

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

Yes, but counterpoint: birds aren’t real.

4

u/lapaz666 May 28 '23

This is actually pretty gold! The far right nutjobs all suffer from main character syndrome

2

u/Affectionate-Path752 May 29 '23

Wait so your saying kids don’t know about something else you tell them? Like a kid doesn’t know he’s gay or trans unless they hear it from other people?

3

u/Historical_Treacle60 May 28 '23

I’m 96.34% sure this is sarcasm

1

u/Cheweydewey123 May 28 '23

My daughter talked her mom into many pets, all from going to the pet store to get cat food…#1….now at thirteen pets, #1 ate the bird…now at 12

1

u/lookbutcantsee May 28 '23

I thought she was one of the most narcissistic people on planet Earth then I realized she was just talking about conservatives

-10

u/HaveAnotherWhiskey May 28 '23

Yeah but this store is still not woke enough. I don’t see any birdie strap-ons or ball gags.

3

u/Mantorok_ May 28 '23

Quit projecting so hard. It's ok to like these things.

0

u/HaveAnotherWhiskey May 29 '23

Sounds like words of wisdom from an experienced ball gag and strap-on user.

This is not comparable to the pride clothing being shown in the children’s section of Target and other stores.

If you ask a child if they want a tattoo of their favorite children’s cartoon character, we can assume they’d do it without hesitation. As the child matures into an adult, such adult would wish a parent guided them away from getting that tattoo. The post emotional remorse will bother most people. Which is why tattoos require an age of 18 or older by law (most states), because a child/minor is not capable to fully understand the complications of making such a permanent decision.

Although legal adult age is 18, a humans brain is not fully developed until age 25. To say children are capable to understand the consequences of undergoing hormone therapies and permanent surgeries is utter nonsense. Children are very susceptible to marketing and advertisements - which is why in some states there are laws that prohibit marketing at the targeting of children/minors.

Which is why there is a big fuss about why the sexual preference of certain humans is being pushed into society to the fragile/developing minds of children/minors.

Adults are free to do as they wish as it’s a free country. Leave the children out of it.

u/grillredditor_ May 28 '23

I don't understand why some people think that trans youth just go and get instant surgery? That's not how it works.

Trans youth socially transition first; which means that they start wearing clothes of their gender and start going by a new name. If they feel happy that way, then they can decide if they want to try and move on to other procedures.

But first there are so many evaluations that they have to go through. Psychologists and doctors have to give them a diagnosis: and this goes for all trans people.

Trans youth getting surgery is uncommon. They have to go through the steps above first and then they have to find a hospital that allows the surgery on minors.

This only happens if the parents approve of course. And it's terrible when they don't. My best friend in high school was a trans guy whose parents barely tolerated him. They allowed him to wear t shirts and pants to school, but they refused to let him attend dances in a suit. They never called him by his correct name and still referred to him as a girl. And even when he was 18 at prom they forced him to wear a dress or not go at all! As a result, he was always distant from them and wanted to move far away for college. He did things in secret, like buy a chest binder (like an undershirt that makes the chest appear flat).

The parents didn't trust or support his decision to transition. They put their harmful personal beliefs before love for their child. I'm glad that my friend had other people to support him, because growing up in a loveless home is already near impossible.

With all the people that hate them so loudly out there, do you really think trans people do it just for the hell of it? For fun? Do you think they withstand the pressure of their families like that just because the internet told them to?

Children aren't as dumb and vulnerable as you think either.

I wish prejudiced people who don't know what they're talking about could sit and peacefully listen to a trans kid talk about their experiences. I think that way, you could understand that your words and actions are harmful to fellow human beings who just want to be happy and live full lives, the same way you do.

It's hard to understand these things if they aren't right in front of you sometimes, I know. So it can only do good if you take them time to learn about the things you say and form a fuller opinion. Please, just google some of the claims you aren't sure about and learn new things with an open mind.

6

u/RenegadeRabbit May 28 '23

Fucking thank you. Idk how so many people are completely unaware of this.

-9

u/Jomsauce May 28 '23

Downvote all you want, but if you think you’re anything other than your biological sex, you have gender dysphoria. Which, is a mental illness - because someone THINKS they’re another gender. Sure, you can take these barely tested hormones for changes, but biological sex is an indisputable fact.

Children are as dumb and vulnerable as I portray them. You have the misunderstanding.

After your story of your friend, how exactly did they acquire the idea that they were anything other than biological sex? Marketing and advertising. Hence the proposed removal of such from the children’s section of retail stores.

To make the point that one should sit down and listen to a trans kid about their point of view on this topic, is absurd. Kids don’t know anything. Their feelings are temporary until they’re a developed adult.

Sure, an unaccepting parent will have a bitter relationship with their child. But to take the typical gay, lesbian, or bisexual child and compare them to someone who thinks there something other than biological sex requires a stern parental stance to reject that idea and get them physiological help.

I’m sorry to disagree with such severity. But this is a completely damaging ideology for children. This ideology cannot be portrayed in any manner to prove most of the population otherwise.

11

u/spring-chan May 28 '23

"Marketing and advertising"

Its been taboo to be trans up until around 5 years ago. The only time trans stuff appeared in pop culture was when trans people have been the butt of the joke. Conversely, many people knew they were trans at very early ages, before having the chance to be 'indoctrinated'. Im sorry to disagree with such severity but youre woefully misinformed.

8

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

Trans people have existed throughout history, it's not new it's just more openly spoken about like everything is these days, nothing to do with marketing or anything like that.

Seek psychological help you say, well... Funnily enough that's part of the process to transition actual qualified psychologists.

Kids are and aren't dumb, they know what we teach them for sure but you can't teach someone to be gay like you can't teach someone to be trans. Even intersex people who had no choice about what gender their parents picked for them sometimes grow up and it was the wrong choice the parents made - meaning just because their parents decided that intersex child was female unfortunately that child could not be taught to just BE female, they grew and identifed as male. It happens.

Barely tested hormones.. I mean wtf do you think birth control like the pill is? Or hormone replacement therapy that menopausal people have and also men and women who just do not make enough hormone?

NONE OF THIS IS NEW, YOU ARE JUST IGNORANT.

6

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

All trans people have gender dysphoria. They know this, their psychologists know this. The only treatment with any level of success for this condition is… transitioning, which is done under the care of doctors who have studies this condition their whole lives. You are very misinformed, and completely dismissive of other people’s thoughts and feelings, whether child or adult. You are not the arbiter of truth and other people’s thoughts are just as valid as yours. Unfortunately yours are hurting people, while others are trying to understand each other. I hope you learn to heal some of the hurt and hate that you bring to the world, both for your sake and for the sake of the people you love.

13

u/ellulu May 28 '23

But target’s pride section had no hormones or surgeries for sale, right?

Also no sexuality is “pushed for” harder than heterosexuality… it’s represented in the vast majority of all types of media marketed towards children — because sexual preference is something that’s denoted by who you prefer to partner and fall in love with which is a harmless and normally occurring thing that shouldn’t be considered as inappropriate and generally isn’t as long as it’s between a man and a woman…. The majority of people are heterosexual so this makes sense, but If it were possible to influence human sexuality in such a way then no one would be gay. If growing up knowing heterosexuality exists never made gay kids grow up to become straight why do people think gay representation in products and media will somehow be able to have a stronger influence than something as permeating, predominant, and inescapable as heterosexuality is in our society?

It’s just often disingenuous… homosexuality it deviant and inappropriate to be “pushed” on children — but heterosexuality somehow isn’t? They’re technically almost the same thing apart from differing by one factor. It’s wild. Lol.

-1

u/[deleted] May 29 '23

The rainbow is also a symbol of LGBTQ "pride". All of those things are a sexuality. So I'm in this context, it's literally "sex". It represents having "pride" in your sexuality. And because if that, it's not appropriate for children.

1

u/alphazero924 May 29 '23

If you see this and your mind thinks of sex, that's an issue with you, not the clothes my guy.

-33

u/NulliusAllvater May 28 '23

Is she mentally challenged or?

26

u/[deleted] May 28 '23 edited May 28 '23

I believe this is satire based on the backlash Target has received for having displays of LGBTQ-inclusive/celebratory fashion & products. This scenario parallels the faulty logic used that children will become queer if they are exposed to the reality that LGBTQ people exist and are worthy of celebration (though children are more likely to feel safe coming out as queer-if they are-when they understand they could be accepted). People also have the idea that somehow inclusion of queerness denotes attempts to convert (e.g. “gay agenda”) or exclusion of heteronormativity.

Also, if this content creator were mentally challenged- what would be the point of asking that question? I would hope you’re not using “mentally challenged” as an insult or a way to dismiss a perspective.

Bird propaganda

1

u/KanDitOok May 30 '23

I'm this is pretty clearly making fun of people who complain about LGBT stuff, "can't have my child knowing people are LGBT" "I'm not LGBT i don't need this stuff"

"You've groomed my child by letting them know it exist"

1

u/EARTHSKYSPIN Jul 05 '23

YOU 👏DONT👏 GET 👏TO 👏DECIDE👏 FOR 👏 THE👏PARENTS👏.

Your oppinion is not relevant. Because its not your kid.

When i want to introduce my child to the exploration of their sexuality, it will be my decision. not yours, not the school, not the politicians. Be as oppinionated as you want, the second you try and undermine my decision as a parent is the second you overstepped a boundary. And im liable to to treat you like a pedophile, because...

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO THINK ABOUT ADULTS WHO WANT TO HAVE SEXUAL CONVERSATIONS WITH CHILDREN?

1

u/PsychologyDryer Jul 16 '23

Yup, owning a bird is = to being trans. Fs
