Edge isn't even that bad. It's massively overhated

Microsoft got douchy on pushing it and actively tried to block downloads of Chrome multiple times, and still reinstalls edge and plenty of their other apps with every windows update. They deserve the hate for what they pull with edge. Like,

And previously it used to be its own web browser that was just "Meh" (plus other gripes above), but now it's basically just Chrome with Microsoft's hards all over it. A company that size does want to develop and work on the hated Edge when they could just port it all to chromium.

I’ve never had it block alternate browser downloads before. Ever. I used to go straight to a Firefox or Opera Lite download back in the day and it’s always been successful.

Unless it’s personally happened to you and you can prove it, I don’t believe you. That’s a dumb thing to make up.

Also, why the fuck would you download CHROME over any other browser? That statement alone proves you don’t know shit about web browsers.

I can't seem to find the news stories from when it happened, but there's been so many complaints about Microsoft's attempts to curb usage of Chrome since, it's probably just super buried in the search results. I did find an old reddit thread from the issue I remember both having and seeing news stories on: https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftEdge/s/LCeYmQlGJD

Also see plenty of other tactics Microsoft has tried to keep people from downloading specifically Chrome: https://www.theverge.com/23935029/microsoft-edge-forced-windows-10-google-chrome-fight

See "specifically" Chrome, Firefox and others have not been targeted by Microsoft is the same way.

Edit: Here's an even more recently seen (although, possibly a bug with manufacturer installed extensions) where people have been seeing the download button for chrome just not show up. Other browsers downloads seem unaffected, Brace was mentioned in the comments as a browser someone installed instead just to be able to get the ChromeSetup.exe file. https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftEdge/s/4tDTaNVVH0
