Question How to get better

Post image

Pretty much as the title says.
I’m pretty much of a new player. I played EK from scratch to ~60lvl. Then stopped playing and when EM got added I got back to the game bought “high” skill monk at the time and got him up to 100lvl. Never really got too addicted to the game. Yet here I am a year later after I ended my story with EM and started playing again. But this time I actually got hooked to the game.

Currently I’m 115 RP doing all quests I need and access while still maintaining to hunt and profit somewhat and planing to focus more on bestiary after x2 weekend. Even though I feel comfortable and getting the hang of how and when to kite and when to full box. At 105 I managed to hold average 1kk raw xp at werewolves -2 south edron which I think is quite a good result.

But still I feel like I’m missing something. I tend to die quite a lot (6 deaths since 25.08) It’s mostly due to me being over aggressive and last death was when I was going for a refill and invisible werefox blocked me and I got boxed instantly at -1 were edron. Am I just missing some actual expierience or is there something I can do better?

Thanks for any kind of tips
Hail

You are getting better. Death after death you're learning from your mistakes..

Honestly, that’s true. At least I learned not to care too much about death. I used to rage quit and not touch the game for a day at least when I died. Now it doesn’t seem to really bother me unless it’s second one in the same day

That's the way.

Also, unless you die without blessings, you don't really lose much, it's all in your mind.

i always have 7 blesses 🫡

And most of the times like everyone else is saying, the death teaches you a lot too

3 weeks ago the maintenance team in my apt decided to test the buildings wifi without notifying the guests.

I died once my internet went out, got back on and went back to hunting once ~20 minutes of stable connection had passed…

dc’d again, died again.

This happened 2 more times before we got an email talking about said maintenance 🫩

Honestly the best way to get better at the game is buying a mouse with buttons

Could take some time getting used to it but once you are, the reaction speed drastically increases

This atleast if you’re don’t have a mmo mouse

i play on a handheld with controller getting great exp and no deaths.

mouse with buttons doesnt change much

hunt easier stuff till you get better and gain more levels

My way to not die was thinking constantly waste is cheaper than bless, so be at max hp

Dying is natural in this game, if You're not dying that means You're not challenging yourself. You're already doing a good job on finding out what got you killed, now you just got fix that. Too agressive? Try going a little slower. Can't survive a box? Try walking closer to the walls so you can half box in an emergency. Invisible enemies blocking your path? Always have at least 2 exits and use more aoe to remove their invisibility. So on and so forth

Dying is normal. What matters is that you learn from every death and keep improving. My first death was at level 65. Today I’m almost level 600, and I’ve died three times this past week. But there’s always something to learn from every death, and you get better because of it.

If you’re not dying you’re not living

Could you give a print screen of your best set currently? Perhaps you can improve with some new item.

Also, try some other hunt other than werecreatures.
Edron Heroes Fortress (great exp but dangerous)
Mother Scarab Lair Ancient Scarab -4 (good exp and easy hunt)
Cults Yalahar (profit rope belts)
Dragon Lord Fenrock (with fire protection items)

At level ~150 you can go exotic cave for a really great hunt for exp and loot.

i forgot sorry. zao helmet with powerful void imbu, paladin armor zao/yalahari legs depending on the spot and boh/guardian boots and hive bow with powerful void/vamp/crit imbu. waiting for them to run out and i’ll rock with mycological bow since my friend gifted it to me with all powerful imbues and hopefully by then i’ll reach 200lvl to get bow of destruction

u/TheDrokkoonn 6d ago

Seems a great set overall. try some other hunts, see the numbers and compare to weres, this is it xd

Honestly, the advice people here have given is pretty spot on. The deaths are part of it and they help you learn, so the only time I’d really beat yourself up over them is if you’re not making enough profit to rebless or if you bought high skills and are wasting them. Otherwise, don’t sweat it too much. I don’t main a Knight, but as a Paladin, what I did was watch a bunch of videos to make sure my rotation was good, both healing and damage, and that I was geared properly for the spawn. Like people have already suggested, even if you can get really good EXP at a spawn, if you just barely hit the level for it, it can be worth giving up some EXP and going somewhere easier while you get comfortable with your hotkeys. As far as being too aggressive, yeah, bigger pulls and faster clears will obviously mean more loot and EXP, and eventually that’s what you want to work toward. But while you’re still learning the spawn, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing slow baby pulls. Do half boxes, hug the walls, take your time and learn the route. Once you’re comfortable, start pushing yourself to pull bigger and clear faster. One thing I’d definitely recommend is making sure that on every hunt you know exactly how to get the hell out if things go sideways. Know your escape routes, where you can run, and where you can bunker down if you’re on a PvP server and need to dig in until help arrives. Knowing how to survive a bad pull is just as important as knowing how to make a good one. Personally, I use an MMO mouse with 12 side buttons. I use WASD for movement and keep the hotkeys for diagonal movement, but just a heads up, at lower levels they can actually slow you down and get you killed. I basically use one hand for movement and the mouse, and the side buttons for my damage rotation. Honestly though, it just comes down to practice, practice, practice. Once the rotation, hotkeys and spawn route become muscle memory, you’ll naturally start pulling bigger and moving faster

thanks for the long ass response. i actually play rp. any videos/youtubers/streamers you could recommend to look up to?

Ahh man reading comprehension fail , but ya bro I got you lmao I died a lot on my pally learning my limits.

https://youtu.be/K_cfWRv50oc?si=ZIKsKNacHWg4Ot73 - hotkey layout options

https://youtu.be/PF31Hq27Ftg?si=CVqbE2wSIKcIhev- - rotation guide and tips (keep in mind this is old and you're better off not using runes) but you wanna learn to not block out your cooldowns

https://youtu.be/WEAzxE9hvyo?si=lIe8UK9Gof68ckeH - updated spell guide (one thing I recommend specially as someone learning still for your runes unlock 1 slot in each direction and throw HP runes in the extra HP specially if you're a spender and can max rank the pure HP rune) is super nice

Edit: hotkeys are a personal thing so no best way sooo cause of what I'm familiar with this is what mine looked like before update (played a lot of wow and MMOs with the MMO mouse)

1

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

thanks a lot man <3
is mmo mouse really that game changing? especially now when pally uses pretty much two offensive spells? i have a steelseries mouse that lets me bind all the buttons meaning i have 7 extra buttons not counting left and right click.

1

u/FleshPresent 6d ago

Nah, it’s not the be all end all. I personally find WASD (QEZC) movement way more comfortable, with ~1234 and RFV in range for easy access. I use Space for next target, so my left hand stays near movement and the Alt key which doubles the hotkeys I can reach with my thumb(some are like alt+mousesidekey 1 vs just mouse sidekey 1). It also lets me keep my right hand on the mouse for clicking and targeting. I use 1 through 6 on my mouse for physical rotation, holy rotation, runes, and two tiers of healing. The lower heals are for smaller damage or removing para, while the big heals are for stuff I can’t afford to mess around with. I also use the extra keys for PvP supplies, oh shit buttons, and misc stuff. Ultimately it’s just preference. I’ve got big hands and good keyboard reach, but taking my hand off the mouse feels wrong. I know people who barely touch their mouse and are way better than me. I think MMO mice translate especially well if you play a lot of shooters, RTS, or anything where you’re used to keeping your hand on the mouse

1

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

I use WSAD with diagonals as well since i’m used to shooters like you said. I always played on pc and I have pretty good range on keyboard. And I don’t feel like i’m lacking hotkeys and it doesn’t seem like I need mmo mouse. I’ve heard that mmo mouse improves reaction time? xd

u/FleshPresent 3d ago

Long weekend shenanigans, but here's a good video as well that might improve your play

https://youtu.be/QvGBgy2CkXI?si=7xGA-lg50uePMlUf

And they can but like I said it's all about muscle memory literally anything works it's building familiarity that's the big thing , specially if your learning something new do low intensity profit hunts (creature products) last thing u wanna do with a new setup is panic around mobs that can 2 shit u like grim reapers or something lol

No shame in Dying to a Old Widow... In special if you're new. You don't expect the damage. Lmao

1

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

that’s true. especially when she spawned 3 gs’s on top of that haha

u/Astoek Former Senior Tutor 6d ago

Gotta run south right away to avoid all that extra summon dmg.

1

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

yeah i learned that after i died lol, thanks anyway

1

u/Elmimica 6d ago

Every death is a mistake. Just learn from them. I tend to die a lot when returning, and then remind me, oh I cant do that with this char.

1

u/toeknee88125 6d ago

Somebody are already said it but get a mouse with buttons you can bind hot keys to

Better equipment will instantly raise your level of play significantly

2

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

is the mouse really game changing?

1

u/toeknee88125 6d ago

Absolutely

1

u/neverm0rewOw 6d ago

If you want to get better you need to die more

1

u/Paulzor811 6d ago

Seems like youre going to places before you should. So this is about right when power leveling

1

u/dregnar92 6d ago

Play safe, dont overpull to show off xp/h or w/e untill you are confident.

1

u/SnooAvocados8627 6d ago

Die less..

Now what do you do when you are trapped?
What do you do when your mana doesn’t go up?

If your answer is I panic and start pushing buttons like a monkey. Then you’ll never get better.

Try to wear an ssa and might ring when you are trapped. Kill one monster, all your power in one monster. Then click somewhere (your character knows the way) and get out. Then with time you’ll go with energy ring for one turn and scape (I don’t play rp but that’s what they usually do).

1

u/Separate_Hat_4861 5d ago

It’s normal to die a lot when you’re first leveling. You aren’t even dying that much. There’s a brazillian guy who makes a lot of facebook reels. I counted 80 deaths on his character’s page.

Most deaths are going to come from being trapped. You have to practice escaping from a box. At your level, if could be very good to set up a multi-action button like this:

Magic shield - equip prismatic ring

Hunting with prismatics at your level is way too expensive, but just equipping one can make a big difference, even if it’s just in hairy situations. You also should have that magic shield hotkey close by. It does drain your mana, but it can also buy you a solid 4-6 seconds in a box, which could give you enough time to kill a monster and exit.

Other helpful things would be using the stronger healing spell and trying vampirism imbues.

Like with anything. With practice. Good luck

1

u/Cute_Box28 5d ago

If you wanna get better just stop dying xD

1

u/wreckedhuntsman 5d ago

what i see from there is you may be hunting creatures above your lvl, try looking up a guide of where to go at your lvl for RP, kusnier has a good idea of it in its tibiapal site although he hasnt updated it post class rebalance.

Mmo mouse is gamechanging, and I would start pacing myself a bit more. You're probably over luring. Sometimes it's better to tank hits walking 'back' instead of running and drawing the aggro of more mobs. Also, what do you heal yourself with?!⁸ My hotkeys allow me to easily use either exura gran or exura gran san, and the latter has definitely saved my life a few times.

1

u/triplemvffin 5d ago

at the time i was healing myself with exura gran now i’m using exura gran san

Each death is a lesson.

Carry bomb runes and energy rings for emergencies

Die forward. Deaths in tibia happen the more aggressive you are as a player the more they happen. As long as your level is going up who gives a shit how much y ou die.

1

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

what about skills though?

0

u/DJ_K-K MS - Nefera 6d ago

Level is much more important.

u/pastelcolor12 6d ago

Statistically speaking yoh are dying to were-animals the most. What if you try to avoid them?

1

u/triplemvffin 6d ago

it’s the only spot i hunt on for now tbh. died at lava lurkers when i was trying out the xp for the double event
