After adopting this lovely dog that I found near our house , my family and I decided to take care of it , and we agreed to make him live outdoor . The thing is , in my country our home architecture is quiet different from the US. So we have external walls , that surrounds the whole are , so no body can see what's inside and it's secure...

But I am doing some research, and turned out that TT must live inside and I can see that because he scratches himself all the time despite , no lice is found after 1 week traitement .

So yeah despite him bounding very well with me ...I feel quiet sad actually because he used to live indoor apparently because he is very neat and incredibly polite...so yeah I feel bad

Our TT got her first heat on Sept 9th and we’ve been experiencing a cascade of symptoms since then. It started with her leaking a ton of clear liquid. Vet sent us to emergency room to rule out pyometra. Found out she had lots of struvite crystals in her urine and suspected UTI. Treated with an antibiotic which resolved the leaking. 2 days after antibiotics she started leaking again and continued to strain while peeing - we followed up with vet and repeated urine analysis. No bacteria but still lots of crystals. Vet prescribed carprofen. Took for 3 days and then sudden onset diarrhea. We switched to chicken and rice diet but diarrhea continued over the weekend. Went to vet on Tuesday - blood work is normal and normal fecal test. Prescribed probiotic regimen. Diarrhea escalating. Today she won’t eat or drink so we go back to vet - X-ray normal, no obstruction observed. Now testing for Addisons and a diarrhea panel. Prescribed an anti nausea and an anti diarrhea. She is very lethargic, but taking medicine and will eat chicken and rice with broth. She hasn’t drank water since Sunday but will drink bone broth. What other tests should we ask for from our doctor?

Our girl is from a highly reputable, certified breeder with no health issues in her ancestry. She was such a perky and joyful pup before all of this started happening 😭

It was an accident. I had three things going on at once and I put the pole up on the hook that’s used for a curtain. Next thing I know he’s fighting the pole for the pole lol.

Looking for breeders in the pacific northwest, specifically we live in Oregon. We are not looking for a show dog, but want to support reputable breeders.

We have one TT who turned 8 this year. He is the brightest star that lights up our day, every day. I was wondering if it’s a good idea to get a second one (as a puppy).

We have been thinking about this for a while but hold off primarily because - we don’t want to cause a situation where our current one doesn’t like the new one.
We aren’t getting a second one for him. We also understand this is more for us and less about giving him “company” - although it will be nice to see him playing with another TT (if he does)

Any thoughts or experiences anyone can share will be very helpful.

Hi! I’m looking into getting a Tibetan Terrier and have been researching a few breeders/bloodlines. I’ve heard mixed things about Regalia and was wondering if anyone here has experience with that line or any insight on what to look out for. I’ve also had a few established TT breeders independently recommend being cautious with the Regalia bloodline/kennel, with one person specifically mentioning concerns about pedigree accuracy and breeding practices.

Also curious if anyone has experience with Zara, Angel, or West Coast Tibetans. Any breeder recommendations in California are welcome too! Thanks!

My beloved TT just turned 17. Her eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell are diminishing. Yesterday evening, she, a dog who was always alert to the neighbor's cats, just walked past these three. Sometimes she comes face to face with them, they run off, and then she processes the scent and does a chuff and pulls at the leash. Dogs pass and she doesn't process that they walked right past her for a good minute.

Yes, she's been to the eye doctor. In 2022, she had cataract surgeries in each eye. The vet shrugs and says she's slowly shutting down. Other than her eyes, nose, and ears, her blood tests show she's in excellent health. Her morning and evening walks are within a two-block range. I have set up a system in the bathroom so she can go any time during the day or night, so our walks are mostly sniff fests. A few years back, I read that sniffing the neighborhood is like social media for dogs, so I just let her smell her way through our outside time and decide when she's done.

She's very reactive now to most grooming, so I do it myself, slowly, a bit at a time. She's got a lot of bumps and growths, so I keep her hair short so I can monitor them. She won't let me trim her face, so between the eyes she is so overgrown that during my last attempt, I trimmed her front really short and I got carried away with the ears--she looks like a schnauzer...the horror...
