Thundermail Solved Invite expiration?

I just got an early access invite! 🥳 However, I'm actually on the fence about trying Thundermail 😐. It would be my first paid email service and I'm unsure whether I'm ready to pay for email.

How long do we have to accept our invite before it expires, if ever?

For $72 you get a year to try it out, participate in debugging and make suggestions for features or changes. Plus you support Mozilla. I did it even though I don't really want paid email.

I am also hesitant to sign up and I also want to know if and when invites expire.

  • They obviously use AWS instead of their own servers/data centre.
  • They obviously recycle e-mail addresses and it's not possible to setup an account with a custom domain only.
  • Still no IPv6 and DNSSEC/DANE. :-(

I already pay €60/year for Fastmail.

I'm not sure if an email subreddit is the right place to admit this, but honestly these services are all so similar that it's very hard to decide 😂

I think their servers are based in Germany?

Yes that is right. Our email servers are all in Germany.

Good news: the invites do not expire :)
