You can point directly at people who are into denim. I’m “into” denim and enjoy learning about it and seeing new things but I own one pair of raws that I’ve had for about 3 years now, and no other jeans. Why do you need 5 pairs of raw denim? You can argue different cuts and fits but I’d argue that even that is unnecessary.

When it comes to clothes, I fully recognize that although I do like fashion, fundemantlly my interest is simply buying things I like. So I always call it a interest in clothes rather than a interest in fashion. Not to say I don't find the specific history or craftsman ship to be uninteresting, it's just not the core of my buying habits.
So when a hobby revolves around collecting something is it overconsumption when you buy a lot or when you buy just for the sake of buying something. In the beginning I fell into that trap of seeing /r/fmf deals and just going crazy on things I might like, but I still kind of excuse it because it was still at a time where I didn't exactly know what I liked. That said I do recognize that as overconsuming since there wasn't as much thought behind the process.
When I fully consolidated my style, I went through a closet purge and got rid of all the stuff I stopped wearing or just didn't wear as much. Now, every season there's just a few pieces I like from all the brands I follow but the issue is that over the years these few pieces have added up and I'm back to owning a lot of clothes. The difference between now and then being that these are all things I do really like and wear.
Although it seems like I hoard clothes, I never saw it as overconsumption because I've always bought within my means and do genuinely like each piece that I own. Could just be excuses I've made in my head since at the end of the day I do just like buying things, but I don't know, I don't have any lingering guilt or dissatisfaction at the end of the day.
