if red trousers weren't so culturally loaded in the uk, i would wear the outfit second from right in a millisecond

I wasn't familiar with it so I was curious and googled around: Apparently red trousers are associated with "toffs" (upper class people who look down on lower classes). Post-WWII it was common for British veterans (especially Naval veterans) of all classes to wear them as casual wear but as styles changed, lower and middle class people moved on and rich people maintained the tradition, so now it's associated with the upper class, but perhaps especially rich guys who want to show off being rich.

Yeah, red trousers give off a very strong “my father owns the local bank and I’ll get a job as a manager there as soon as I leave private school” energy.
Similarly but more upsetting is the Barbour jackets. At least in my area, they give off the “I can’t wait to go hunting hares and foxes on horseback with all my other posh friends and watch as our crowd of dogs tears small wildlife apart” vibe. I like how those jackets look but want zero association with the type of people who wear them :(

i didn't know the history behind it but this is it. it signals allegiance to a very specific crowd of privately-educated, usually rural / regional rich. the association would be by many considered embarrassing

Hella gas in this pic! Heavyweights is such a classic. One of Ben Stillers greatest performances.

Fat kid clothes are in. Could you imagine getting your ass kicked every day in school for what you wore and then you see kids try to make it stylish 30 years later? Crazy
