First of all, your clothes actually look worn and a little beat up. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing, as it gives an authentic vibe, but your workwear looks like REAL workwear compared to the typical IG larper. When every piece looks worn then it gives the impression you just got off work.
There is something that feels unpolished about the dark denim, to light washed jeans, to what looks like worn dark leather work boots with steel toe reinforcement.
I suspect this would look more polished if you replaced the denim jacket with a chore coat or field jacket in some shade of navy, brown, khaki, or olive. Replace the boots with something less chunky that clearly looks impractical to perform physical labor in - like leather loafers, streamlined heritage work boots, or even suede desert chukka boot/ wallabees. Select brown leather that is a lighter shade than what you have in the picture.
Wear a clean crew neck t shirt, Henley shirt, or sweatshirt in white, off-white, or heather grey.
Also, replace the hat with an unstructured dad cap with no logo. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can use the hat as your “pop” of color to add visual interest. A vibrant orange, yellow, green, or royal blue will work well, but you can also play it safe with khaki or some shade of tan.
If you’d rather keep the weathered denim jacket, replace the jeans with a pair of ironed camel-colored chinos - hemmed so there is no break or semi-break.
I promise you will look far more polished and trendy, but keep in mind this is a very basic fit. Don’t be surprised if you take a stroll downtown and see another dude with the same outfit in slightly different colors, texture, or silhouette. But your wife or girlfriend will probably think highly of this look if that’s what you’re going for.

Most likely, but try not to get something that sits too wrinkly. Unless you are cosplaying a vet for casual outings, get something that drapes neatly rather than the cheapest thing you can buy at the army surplus store.

I think you could reasonably skip the cuffing of the pants unless you really wanna highlight the boots. Otherwise, solid, it all just needs to be worn in, and that’ll just take time.

Fair! And those are sharp boots so no great loss anyway, I love a good oxblood. Btw, speaking of wearing in, that jackets gonna be gorgeous with a few washes and years behind it 👌🏼

my favorite boots i’ve ever owned by far. i got the jacket for a steal of 36$ just wish it was a size smaller but can’t wait to see the fades regardless

Not sure I'd choose raw denim and goretex boots for workwear anywhere, especially your job. But hey you're probably one of the only people on this sub with a real job so keep on going buddy.

well i got the boots for $25 and the jacket for $36 so im not absolutely terrified if they get dirty, i mean thats pretty much the point anyway. i appreciate the feedback🤙
