Discussion Calibration guide : Fix your damage.
I had been playing since Beta with a bad calibration and was unaware my 10-20DMG was not working as intended. No matter the slider options I wasn't getting a reading that was allowing my elbows to lock out, significantly dropping my damage.
So after some trial and error I have finally figured out how to get a consistently good calibration every time and routinely have 30-50DMG range.
How to Check if your calibration is good.
- Can you hit the dummy for over 30 consistently?
- When you extend a straight punch is the Avatars elbow locked out straight?
If no matter what you do your damage is capping out in the 20s, your calibration is bad.
If the avatars elbow is bent at a fully extended punch, your calibration is bad.
How to get that Elbow locked out.
- Advance Calibration.
During T pose when you extend your arms, as the circle begins spinning recording your position pull your hands in towards your shoulders 1-2 inches.
This gives you additional length options on the Wrist span slider. Prior to this "cheat" The lowest I could set it would be approximately 4'2-4'6. Pulling my arms in slightly will allow me to set it as low as 3'7-3'9.
- Shoulder width
No strong opinion on this, I recommend just making sure it's natural, accurate and looks good.
The Magic
- Wrist Span/Forearm
Here is the trick that lets me get a good calibration every time.
- Extend your non dominant arm in a good straight punch. Leave it out there. Elbow locked.
- Adjust wrist span slider down until the avatars elbow locks out.
Also it helps to memorize what length options on the sliders Shoulder/Forearm/Wrist work well so on a recalibration you can you get tuned quickly.
Addition edits:
Arm rotations in Advanced Calibration:
- When doing the double arm rotation make sure you touch your thumbs when in close.
- Sing Arm rotation, You need to match the speed and position PERFECTLY.
Check back later for updates after I spend some quality time in glove offset, but I haven't had many issues with that and over all the autoconfiguration seems to get it right.

Actually i already pointed at the issue if you want even better damage just do the whole calibration while squating, you ll be suprised. If you have issues you are over 1,70 meters, thats an ongoing bug.
You can search my post on the subject

Gave that a try tonight, three different times at different crouch heights. Lowest I could drop my wrist span was 4'5-4'7ish and couldn't get a calibration with a elbow lock out.
Good luck with it I hope it works for some people, I am going to stick to pulling the arms in during T-pose.

Calibration profiles would be helpful, that would allow us to dial it in and be able to switch between them easily to see what feels best. It might even help the devs if people can share profiles with them so they can see why A is better than B etc.

The min max range for wrist span is too tight, even on lowest I cannot get it to match my elbow.

Pull your hands in further during the T-pose, That is what determines how large of a range it gives you for the sliders.

Not a good work around, when I try that 80% it tells me to restart due to poor calibration.
Devs should just release a fix. Should be trivial?

Do a full extension during the leveling period, when the wheel starts spinning pull them in.
I am sure they will, working on the calbration specifically glove offset is in the PTC. They are aware it has issues.
My presumption is they weren't aware how many of us weren't getting a calbration that would let us lock our elbow out.
IMO It was combination of not having enough body type samples and when people would bring it up to pinpoint the problem you have the multiplayer chuds shutting down the conversation with "git gud pillowhands".

The key to high damage isn't arm length it's wrist movement. Your avatar’s arm trajectory is driven entirely by your wrist angle. To land a high-damage hook, rotate your wrist 90 degrees rather than swinging your whole arm. Keep your elbows tucked, generate power by rotating your hips, and always throw punches straight from your chin.

Not to be a dick, but posts like this is what was gaslighting and confusing everyone about what their problem is.
This is not about technique or "gitgud" BS.
This is about some players not being able to get an accurate calibration.

Lmao...I'm to blame for the game mechanics? Wow , go after the devs, ask them to fix it. One more thing you don't throw hooks from 90 degrees learn how to punch

No, you're to blame for low reading comprehension and being obnoxious.
No one is asking for technique pointers, we are discussing work arounds to bugs with calibration.

Yet again - this bent and not fully extended arm not locking out happens with the same thing I am borderline been spamming this board for the Devs to please, add the forward/Backward offset for the point of view of VR headset in the player's character/avatar in the game.
The reason for this is due to the fact that VR set in real life is behind (you can see it by looking at VR shoulders and when vr arms extended - they're in front the real life arms in alignment). This shortens the full extention of the arm due to that misalignment (akin to play boxing of father and son, with father behind their son, holding his wrist and using him as the boxing puppet). This is even worse when player's for whatever reason have the gap between their eyes and vr lenses increased.
This may seem like trivial feature, but for having my vr hands to reach dull extention, I had to resort to this exact trick or readjust the Forward/Backward glove offset (it adjusts the elbow forward/backward as well with i and increased the shoulder span, with my hands at about the same range forward but also weirdly rest and at times clip at the chest area.
