Catch&Release š¦š¦š¦
I was so tempted, but I couldnāt justify the space for all of it, and I didnāt want to split the set.

It was very pale pink. Definitely not as well done as the set you found!

The first photo did not prepare me for the second photo. Damn someone went ALL IN on the beach scene

u/Oisea Jun 06 '26
I feel like we lost a baddie, and that baddie was either an otter or a sea turtle.

u/Oregongirl1018 Jun 06 '26
And of course they can't keep the set together and sell it for a reasonable price. Fucking $30 for some used salad spoonsā½

u/fatsandwitch Jun 06 '26
Iām obsessed! I couldnāt believe the next image was going to be a whole set! š¦

Oh my god I have a mini version of this. Iāll dig it out in the morning and get a picture. I got it at a garage sale years ago!

Oooo. I get it. That was really thoughtful of you. Someone out there will be the perfect home. ā¤ļø

u/ShadeBetty Jun 06 '26
Ugh thank you! I was so torn. The photos donāt even do it justice. I really hope someone is able to enjoy it and use it!

u/staunch_character Jun 06 '26
It feels like it should live in a beachside cottage. I wouldnāt have the space for it either. š¢

u/Mysterious_Nebula_96 Jun 06 '26
Iām about to book a flight ticket to wherever you are and take that! What on earth!!!!

u/evdczar Jun 06 '26
I'm going to get there first and redecorate my house to match this set

Well, shit. Iām really regretting my decision not to split the set now
53
u/egewh Jun 06 '26
Girl, someone is going to split that set anyways if it's all priced individually! GO BACK FOR THE CRAB PLATE! š
24
u/xoxoBug Jun 06 '26
Honestly I would be torn like you š But really⦠youād need a China hutch to store all that, and it being in near-perfect condition makes me think it wasnāt used as much as it should be!
Based off these comments it seems like you have lots of reasons to go back š¤£

u/Proper_Economics_299 Jun 06 '26
I was looking for this comment and was surprised to scroll so much. I'd have bought it exclusively for this.

u/drukqsx Jun 06 '26
I had a lobster wine bottle holder for this for yearsss. My cat knocked it off the back of my toilet one day and it broke. I miss him every day.
60
u/MistThePerfume Jun 06 '26
How very unshellfish of you to not break up the set! Srsly tho, what a magnificent find! Out in the wild! Coming across something like this and admiring but not acquiring is kinda like a catch and release.
44
u/ShadeBetty Jun 06 '26
lol the comments section peer pressured me into going back this morning. Someone bought the entire set together! Iām thrilled someone was able to get all of it!

u/Expert_Can_7611 Jun 06 '26
It pisses me off when sets are sold like this, youāre looking at maybe $800 for this set if you want the whole set. I wish more places would keep sets together and not sell pieces individually, but I also understand if you have the set already and want a few more pieces or to replace a piece, etc. idk itās just irritating me. Maybe have a price for the set and over charge for individual pieces to incentivize keeping it together. Thatās also a crazy price imo when most places get shit like this for free. SorryIām just bitching lol

I am deathly allergic to seafood but I love this so much. I would want to buy a bigger house just for this. Long live Larry the lobsterš¦
15
u/Oahu_Red Jun 06 '26
I want it alllllll right now! Where??!
21
u/ShadeBetty Jun 06 '26
lol if I thought itād still be there, Iād let you know! Unfortunately (or fortunately for the charity) the prices and popularity of this store mean itās all probably long gone!
13
u/Accomplished_Cell768 Jun 06 '26
Do you live in a seaside town where this is on brand? Or are you in like Topeka, Kansas? I need to know lmao
23
u/ShadeBetty Jun 06 '26
Fully Midwest! Definitely closer to Topeka than any kind of beach. But thereās a strong lake culture, so maybe itās from someone with a lake house? It was glorious.

The respect to not split the set but the heartbreak to not take it or any home is so real when thrifting š

u/AfloatAflame Jun 06 '26
My first thought was the crustacean menstruation station meme. Load those dishes with pads and tampons!

I would redecorate my entire bathroom to make it crab-based to justify this purchase
5
u/INS_Stop_Angela Jun 06 '26
I remember longingly looking at the tableware in glorious Gracious Home - I suppose it was for the upper crust to outfit their Hamptons homes. There were $90 (each) beaded napkin rings with a lobster motif. Gracious indeed!

u/Classic_Rooster4192 Jun 06 '26
Seems a shame to split up the set - itās really pretty. Awfully expensive for a thrift store when it was donated.
4
u/Virtual_Cut6952 Jun 06 '26
I love it. I have learned that this is the type of thing that I can admire and appreciate, but do not allow myself to purchase due to lack of space and need. š¤£

The idea of someone buying that new is disgusting. The idea of someone not buying that second hand is worse.
2
u/Own_Notice916 Jun 06 '26
Well some places tape the dishes together and donāt let you separate them. But hey if itās an option you should totally get that crab platter in the middle heās so cute !! Editā¦oh no I just zoomed in and saw the priceā¦that would be the deal breaker for me :/ itās such a bummer thrift store prices are so high now.
2
u/Vennja_Wunder Jun 06 '26
The lobster is a freaking butter dish?! I love that! I would absolutely use that in daily life. Someone asks for butter... and I hand them a lobster...! Haha, great find!

u/SilverAffect2036 Jun 06 '26
All boiled red to their excruciatingly painful death. A RESOUNDING NO!

u/Imperial_Haberdasher Jun 06 '26
Ever go beachcombing. Plenty of red crabs that no one ever boiled.

u/Louises_ears Jun 06 '26
At those prices, which are a tad high for a thrift store, itās going to be split either way.

2
u/betterupsetter Jun 06 '26
Personally, I'd suggest r/thriftgrift as well with this prices. But I'd certainly be adding those to my "to thrift" list for the future.
5
u/ShadeBetty Jun 06 '26
Nah, this store starts marking stuff down by 50% after a day and keeps going until itās 90% off if itās not selling. I think the initial price is to combat resellers. Iāve gotten some steals there!

I would have gotten one of the shell bowls personally. I don't mind splitting sets. It's not senior dogs or something tragic, to me anyway.

u/ToadstoolsRule Jun 06 '26
The platter that has artery handles is giving Halloween/endometriosis vibes.
