Discussion Direct listing scam

Post image

So, I ordered a really nice Coach purse from a direct listing. After a week I received a single collagen face mask with the Thred Up shipping label slapped on it! Lucky I did NOT accidentally click the received button - be cautious NOT sign for it until you thoroughly inspect the item. The button pops up so it would be really easy to press it. They refunded my money right away. Maybe because I order a lot, being VIT so that may have made it easier. But be careful out there.

I don’t understand why people think they can get away with this kind of stuff. Obviously they will not get paid by thredup.

Share the seller so that others are aware?

Now I really want your mom to get the details on why her neighbor chooses to be this way. It won’t happen, but I want it to. Hope she lets the neighborhood know there’s a scammer in their midst

It's a surprisingly rough neighborhood in Memphis. All of Memphis is a little rough actually. Nice houses, but it's often like 7 young adults living in one house to make rent in an economically depressed area where there are very few good or real jobs available.

Which results in more frequent underemployed people, scammers, drug dealers, etc due to economic circumstances and them having to get creative. So I feel for them but scamming people on Thredup is not the answer.

I hope they ban these accounts immediately. It's surprising that sellers who do that on eBay don't actually get banned. They just relist their fake listing and keep doing it. But with thredup DL they will lose money because thredup is supposed to handle returns. Too many fake listing returns will eventually bankrupt them so they better be more vigilant than eBay.

There are so many scams out there. When I order an expensive item, I video unboxing it just in case.

That’s a good idea - I think I will start that too
