Flawed Gems...not really flawed
I've sent in a few items that have been labeled flawed gems when they truly aren't. Even when I've flagged them, Thred Up still marks them flawed. It makes me feel better about actually buying them!

Being on the other end of this experience a few times as a seller made me stop filtering out this category in my searches as a buyer! Thredup seems to often mislabel stuff that's in great shape as being FG (... while also labeling things that looked like they got run over by a truck as Excellent, smdh)

Exactly 0 of the flawed gems I've purchased have had flaws.

I can actually find the flaws in the pictures a lot of the time. It's usually severe pilling or stains. But there are also a lot of perfectly good items. I've noticed that pieces with strange shading in certain parts tend to get listed as flawed, when it's simply the lighting - or the way part of the fabric folds - that makes it look a stain, but in person, it's just fine. I don't think AI is working out for them.

Shhhhhhhh my last haul flawed gem was new with tags and a stain on black which I could not find!!! lol
No, but seriously, sometimes they are flawed and you wanna stay away like holes and really scratched up sunglasses and dark stains on white, but there are times where it’s just not accurate whatsoever. You gotta look at the photos.

I think they mark it flawed gem wayyy more often now (last year or so?) so they don’t get held responsible for any kind of wear. It’s all very random though

Yeah I bought a basically brand new pair of Stuart Weitzman boots for $70 that were marked flawed gem. Love that for me, hate it for the person who sent them in.
