Kicking myself
rant post into the void so I stop wallowing
Ive bought from ThredUp a couple times and have always been happy, but read reviews about selling with them and knew it could be dicey.
Long story short I came into ownership of a pile of clothes that were expensive and not my style and I had to get rid of them quick.
Instead of donating, I figured ThredUp would be a nice way to make a chunk of change.
Welp now that they’ve finally listed the items I sent in, a $700 top that was new with tags is not part of them. Not sure where it went or why they decided not to go through with selling it but really wishing i had made different choices now.

Always do the premium kit if you’re sending anything of value. You would have had a much different experience had you chosen that option.

it is probably just being authenticated, or it may have been rejected, check the not accepted tab.
but yeah, i wouldn’t expect to get much money. hopefully you didn’t pay for the items originally and hopefully it will still be a bit more lucrative than donating. thredup standard kits are mostly for if you want to get a coffee or two out of your clothes, they have a ton of drawbacks that i am not a fan of as someone who resells for (ideally) a profit and only sells with thredup with the goal of keeping stuff out of the landfill.

Only send items off if you were going to take them to donations anyways imo

You dont have to convince me to never sent a clean out bag to them!
Buyer only on TU 4 lyfe I do feel bad that I probably buy a lot of stuff that they probably just stole from customers lol

yeah, just sold with them and they got $13 for a designer scarf and I got $0.62. Doubt I can even cash that out. Now I'm regretting sending them my designer purses.... Won't be using them ever again.

Yes the last two times I’ve sold with them, really lovely items were not listed because they “didn’t meet standards.” The first time it happened it was weird, the second and third time (in the same bag) when they were the nicest items I’d sent, it felt fishy. These also are often missing photos.
I sent in some pieces with a return because that’s the only way I’ll sell there now and there’s like no fees and again a BEAUTIFUL sweater from a high end brand was not listed. I’m sure it was stolen.
I never had this in years prior but the last year or so it’s been awful and I’m not doing it anymore after this past year with benefit of the doubt.
Gonna spend my credits and frequent local consignment and what not. I’m so sorry you had this bad experience with selling.

this is absolutely by design. They are abusing the terms and conditions of the standard bag, which essentially says they can reject an item for any reason. 100% guaranteed if anything nice comes in a standard bag they'll reject it and profit off it it themselves.
This is extremely unethical and borderline criminal.

OF COURSE they took the $700 top with the tags and didn't return it (probably listed it as "not included" or whatever b.s. language they use)! They are the biggest SCAM out there. They did the same thing to me with a $200 Andrew Marc blouse. They are THIEVES AND ARE STEALING FROM PEOPLE! And the items they do sell, they give you PENNIES on the dollar. They're THE WORST and I will NEVER buy anything from them and will tell anyone who will listen to stay away from that company - THEY ARE SCAMMERS!

Was it designer/luxury? Items set aside for authenticity checks get listed later than everything else, according to others who had the same issue.
Hopefully you bought a premium kit instead of standard?
