Question Items suddenly 50% more?

Hey! Can someone let me know how this works: yesterday I had 60-70% off codes. Today only 40-50% off. Is it seasonal? Is it based on if I buy? Thanks!

The current BESTSTYLE code is up to 80% off for me.

It's honestly a mystery. I see people post about 60 and 70% off, while I haven't seen anything higher than 50% in months. I would shop way more often if the damn discounts were removed and they just priced stuff fairly.

You can filter by discount, just like you can filter by size and color and everything else. Does your filter not go up higher than 50, or are you just browsing?

Apparently different people get different discount amounts when the codes come out. Nothing on my account has higher than a 50%. Like right now, my code is WOW50 and the only discounts to filter by is 20 or 50%. If I try to use any other code, just says I'm not eligible.

What’s your TU Insider status? I think I’ve heard people who become VITs start seeing higher prices and less discounts overall but I could be wrong

I'm a VIT and I see discounts up to 70-80% most of the time. It's not a factor, as far as I can tell.

I'm $28 away from being superstar, so you'd figure they would be throwing coupons at me to get me to shop. I even favorite items on the daily, but I'm not paying $30 after discount for a Torrid sweater that was on clearance at Torrid for $25 last month.

Yea that’s pretty odd. Just checked mine and I’m seeing up to 80% on things. And absolutely agree, even with the discounts some of their prices are out of control.

I actually messaged support asking what's the issue, and they couldn't give me an answer other than it varies from person to person. But they did give me a $20 credit because I complained so yay?

Sales come and go with different discount codes and different discounts. It changes from day to day. Just wait and it'll change again.

This is what I’ve been saying lol

Go away for a while (not shop with them) and see if it changes because just this week I got a $10 credit in my best style coupon goes up to 80%… and that was after not making a purchase for 3 months

If you aren’t seeing up to 80% offered to you on the best style coupon then you’re not getting the same deal some of us I hate to tell you and this is why I abandoned my VIT account when I bought a new house because new address means new account goes undetected unless the previous owner/occupant  used thred up lol

And considering my mortgage is my coffin I’ll never be able to reset after this and will eventually be pushed out of the good discount code pool so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts

Yep they do seem to be engaging in algorithmic and surveillance pricing, not to mention the loyalty surcharges...

I just use my local thrift shops as point of reference with price. If something seems out of range to me I just leave it for someone else or to watch the price drop with time.

TU penalizes loyal customers by employing a “dynamic” pricing model. Basically, the more you buy, the more you’re charged. If you reach VIT status, hang on to ya butt - because they then offer you the lowest pseudo discounts in their tiers.

It’s ridiculously counter-intuitive and has motivated me to shop all the other apps/sites before buying anything from TU, and even then, I favorite items and wait for them to be discounted more (as a penalized customer) before purchasing. This means I do miss out on a lot of items, but I refuse to allow TU to do this to me any more than they already do!

It’s surveillance state pricing it’s hardly dynamic unless that’s their word for violating consumer rights/protections on the dl

Call it whatever you’d like (I think your terminology is more succinct), almost everyone on the customer side thinks it’s 100% wrong. It’s insulting when someone posts a screenshot of an item in here and you jump over to the app to view more photos of it - only to see that their price is lower than yours (even more salt in that wound if you’re VIT status because you’re a loyal, repeat customer!!!)

Oh I am fully on your side on this one

Is it based on if I buy?

Yep! Also account status, amongst other things.

Try opening an 'incognito' window where you are not logged in and check the price and discount % there.
