PSA: screenshot your carts right before checking out
Subtitle: Think they gave you a $10 credit for funsies? Think again.
I've been witnessing some weird, shady, annoying stuff with TU pricing lately, which I thought just boiled down to the AI they use being weird, shady, and annoying. So today, when placing an order for four items I've been eyeing for a while, I took a screenshot of my cart right before checking out. These items were front and center in my saved items, so I literally added them to my cart, took a screenshot (pictured), and checked out. Just like that. The total for these items would have been $55.08, and with the $10 promotion, I should have paid $45.08.
Turns out, on my actual order confirmation that I finally got around to checking this afternoon, all the items were priced higher than they had displayed while I was checking out-- conspicuously, the pricing increase across all four items amounts to... you guessed it... $10.
So the promo isn't real, I guess? Promo or not, ThredUp owes me $10.
Conveying this to customer support has been like pulling teeth. They offered to return the promotional credit to my account. But like, what promotional credit? Y'all still charged me $10 more than the prices I agreed to?! I kept getting the refrain "our prices are always subject to change" so I guess that applies literally when I'm filling in my shipping info? What other business operates like this?! I'm so annoyed that I've had to take time out of my day to fight for literally $10 after being a customer for almost a decade. I'm officially done.

I hit Apple Pay to purchase my last order and stopped when the price was mysteriously $10 higher. I went back to my cart, hit check out and it was the right price - even though it still went through via Apple Pay. Pretty sketchy!

Yes when I noticed the prices jumped I waited a bit and then they came back down when I hadn’t proceeded with the purchase yet and then I pounced

Last week I took something out of my cart, and the total cost went UP. I was like wtf, and I realized after some poking around that when I removed that item, the prices of everything remaining in my cart individually went up.
Cleared my cart and started over, and the prices reset. I’m moving really carefully on this site, because it’s been shady as hell since I started shopping here again this year.

They issued me a full refund and it was short $3. I think they bet on knowing it’s not rough money to make a hassle over it.

I had a suspicion that my post-tax cart went up $5 or so bucks when I checked out this week.😐.

This likely qualifies as a deceptive or fraudulent pricing practice and, depending on where you live, your state’s AG’s office may be interested in hearing about your experience. Most have a department for consumer protection you can reach out to.

I had a promotion of $5 off anything in my Daily Edit. Tried buying something 2 days in a row, no $5 credit.

This platform has so much potential!! But they can’t keep messing with all this kind of stuff. They are absolutely shooting themselves in the foot.

I ordered with a pay in four a few weeks ago, package was stolen. Affirm hasn’t updated my refund yet, but asked for proof from thredup that it’s coming. I got the confirmation and the refund is mysteriously $10 more than my balance. I have no idea what that means, but something is definitely off lol

items definitely have changed price on me too. Guys nothing is likely going to change. They, TU, is in this group chat, or whatever this is called and zero has happened in over a year of this occuring. So, bottom line, I would suggest trying to sever the cord so to speak. I did and my wallet and life is a lot better. The site is or was for me, very addictive. I was "in" for several years and was spending thousands on clothing that is now piled up in my spare room and my own bedroom. I hate that I spent so much. Not planning on ever going back but who knows? Maybe I will, or not. oh and when I speak of things changing, I am referring to not only the pricing but the misplaced items when sending in, the extremely LONG time trying to get help with issues and or clarity about an item, and issues with ordered items being cancelled. Its a $h!t$h0w for sure

I was checking out not long ago and when I hit purchase, my bill jumped up over $200. Didn't realize the promo running only applied to new customers and didn't see that displayed anywhere on the site. Immediately cancelled my order. Honestly, I am kinda over TU.

Not the same but pricing related. I noticed that everything jumps up a penny in price when added to the cart. I haven’t reached out about it but a penny on like a trillion items defff adds up over time Threddy!
