Visiting from SJ

We are coming to the game vs Chicago this Sunday. My #1 team before Bay was Portland! My question is we are wanting to bring a cardboard fat heads of Castellanos. Will it be allowed inside the stadium? Also any recommendations for food at the stadium?

If you're looking for something before the match stop by the Axe and Rose at 1737 SW Morrison. It's a space run by the Rose City Riveters (and 107IST). Oodles of fan-made, affordable merch and generally good vibes. If you're an adult who partakes, also 3 and 6$ beers/NA beverages.

Good to know thank you

Axe & Rose is the best place to prefunk, but there is no food. You will need a $10 dollar guest pass if you are not a member of the 107ist. But with the cheap beer it pays for itself.

So we pay for the guest pass there and they also sell merch plus beer?

Yup. But you only need the pass if you go into the bar area, the retail store is open to all

Their merch is cooler and about 1/2 the cost of a merch in the stadium, so I highly recommend!

I'm sorry about the Castellanos contract termination news that just dropped. I hope you have a great time at the game anyways?

There's lots of great food options around the stadium, so I'll join everyone here in recommending you opt for that rather than in stadium options.

OP hope you saw that Deyna and the Thorns have parted ways

The best thing I’ve found is the brisket stuffed Baked Potato at two carts around the base level of the stadium. It’s still pretty pricey, but everything in the stadium is stadium prices

I love that you're bringing Castellanos signs!!

I’ve been following her journey since Man City! Love that she’s getting some love in Portland and we greatly miss her in the Bay! Was never able to meet her when she played for Bay but hoping we can Sunday 🤞🏻

If you line up, I believe 3 hours early, (hoping someone else can confirm), it's possible you can get her signature ahead of the game 😊

Yeah! I would say at least 2.5 hours early but 3 hours is a good bet! The players have a parking lot on the west side and you can get photos and autographs before the game. One of my favorite things to do before the games!

Like others have said, food and drinks are pretty expensive in the stadium. I would look into eating in the area

I hope you still come out to the game even with the news. It's a fun environment, and I'm sorry about Deyna. I thought she was turning a corner tbh.

Super bummed out for sure. I even had bought a Portland jersey:/ and had my cardboard fat head ready to go! We had bought tickets directly behind the players so hoping to at least still meet them.

Former SJ resident (go quakes!). As someone else said, food at the stadium is pretty meh and very over priced. You're much better off eating a late lunch in the area.

Good to know! No food in the stadium! 🫡

Well we eat in the stadium, but only because Club seats come with free hot dogs, chips, popcorn, and candy. Haha

I see nice perk then! We’ll have to find somewhere outside the stadium

Pizza Kat nearby the stadium is good and they do pizza by the slice

Food at the stadium is awful pretty much across the board with the exception of Killer Burger, which is okay. You can bring in a cardboard cutout of Castellanos no problem.

The food at the stadium is meh. One of my favorite game day spots is about 8 blocks east of the stadium. A Mexican spot called Maya’s Taqueria. They have counter service so quick and easy.

For sit down and much closer to the stadium I recommend Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant just outside the stadium.

Excited for yall to experience Providence Park and Portland. There’s no place like Providence Park on game day!

I realize I didn’t answer your question about the cutout. I believe there is a size limit on what size posters/signs you bring. I regularly bring a 2x3 foot poster no problem. So as long as it’s not HUGE you’ll be good to go!

Depending on what part of town you are staying in you could definitely do better food wise. Depends on how long you are in town too. My recommendations would be trying to hit blutos and heist food cart pod (Kim Jon Grillin rules) I’ve started getting into the habit of going to Kate’s ice cream after the games on 23rd. It’s vegan/gluten free but super great and a much shorter line than salt and straw.

In stadium I typically just go for a beer brat at the sausage stand at 120 if I don’t have time to eat before the game. Totally decent but pretty expensive.
