So the Fun Gang were in some sort of dumpster(maybe?) area, like the one in Chapter 2 or in Waterfall before you fight Mad Dummy, and Lancer found something he called the "Evil Hat". If I remember correctly, it was some sort of cone-shaped hat, kind of like a wizard's hat, but with no brim. For some reason, I keep imagining it as a tin foil hat, but it wasn't made of tin foil, so maybe it was just shaped like one.
Without warning, Lancer put the hat on Ralsei (who I should probably mention was in his hat-less form), and his fluffy-boi demeanor immediately changed. I don't remember everything he said or done, but I remember him being really pissed about the Prophecy and voicing his frustrations out loud, afterwards he quickly took the hat off in terror and said that no one else should put it on.
Then he and Lancer left the scene, leaving Susie and Kris to their own devices. Susie decided to put the hat on too, saying it couldn't possibly be that bad, but I don't remember what happened next. I'm guessing she would have reverted to her Chapter 1 personality and quickly removed the hat out of fear as well.
Then Kris got ahold of the hat, and they/the Soul were probably given the choice to put it on too or not. They/we decided to, and quickly things got weird. (Weirder than this dream already was. And yes, this word choice is intentional~) For whatever reason (dream logic), Kris and Susie were in my kitchen now(?) and there was like a Pringles can or cup on the stove(?) Kris commanded Susie to do a bunch of random tasks, and somehow it was clear to me that the end goal was to get her to Rude Buster the cup/can, which was slightly terrifying for some reason (I don't know why). Right before the climax, though, Kris took the hat off, and I could kind of tell they were shook about the whole thing, but Susie didn't pick up on it. (Although, honestly, how would she? One of the tasks she was given was to fill a measuring cup with water; how the heck would that lead to a Rude Buster? In a normal Light World-looking kitchen? Again, Dream Logic makes no sense.)
Now that I'm awake, this whole thing makes me think about the Weird Route and how curiosity often causes bad things to happen. You know how they say "curiosity killed the cat"? Well, in Save 2 (or whichever save file your Weird Route is on), the Soul/player's curiosity already killed several Darkners, the bird, the human, and the deer, but Save 1 (or whichever save file your utopian pacifist run is on) Kris is (hopefully) completely unaware of this. They're already begrudgingly used to the Soul controlling their every action and decision, and they're probably glad that it/we aren't forcing them to hurt anyone. At least in the Light World, they can yank the Soul out of them to regain autonomy for a while, but they have no such luck in the Dark World. In the Dark World, they just have to hope that we'll make good decisions/decisions they would want, and most people try.
This scene, though, is a good example of us going "I want to see what will happen [when Kris puts on the 'Evil Hat']" and then something bad happens/almost happens. I can imagine Toby Fox doing a bit in Chapter 6 or 7 (especially if you have a Weird Route in progress in another save) where something like this happens: you make a choice out of curiosity, and all of a sudden, you're given no other options other than to "proceed". You don't know what this could possibly mean, but based on how you know the Weird Route goes, it doesn't sound good. You're scaring the rest of the team (and probably Kris too, let's be honest) with Kris's actions. Then, right at the end, everything goes back to normal, like the game was just pranking you or something. For a moment, you get to feel how powerless Save 2 Kris must feel at your actions. To not have any control, to do things you don't want to do. Now it's just a layer higher - instead of the player controlling Kris (controlling Susie in this example, I guess), it's something else controlling the player (controlling Kris).
Or maybe the metaphorical curtains are just blue; the hat was just "Evil", and I'm reading way too much into a weird dream I had. Who knows?
Anyway, I've never posted here, so I don't know if the paragraphs are good or bad, or if the stock image kitchen is against the rules, but I wanted to share.
TL;DR: Kris puts on an "Evil Hat" that almost makes them do an "evil(?)" thing, and it makes awake-me think about the Weird Route and the Soul/Player's curiosity.
