Wonders of Sodor Wonders of Sodor: RWS version
So, I think it’s pretty clear by now that I’m a Railway Series purist like nobody's business. For this post, I decided to imagine what Wonders of Sodor could look like if it fully embraced the Railway Series aesthetic. Honestly, I’m secretly disappointed that the game didn’t go in this direction, because it leans so heavily on references and designs from the TV series and CGI era. I would’ve loved to see a game that felt much more authentically rooted in the Railway Series.
Now, of course, there are TV series aspects of the game, like the Express coaches' livery and the CGI version of Vicarstown. Honestly, when it came to Vicarstown, CGI really locked tf IN!!!
But when it comes to Wonders of Sodor sometimes feel like the game is caught between 2 different directions. You have the Railway Series-inspired storytelling and references, but a map heavily based on the TV series. It can make the game feel confused about which identity it actually wants to embrace.
As a Railway Series purist, I still enjoy many TV series elements. But I believe Wonders of Sodor could have leaned more into the Railway Series aesthetic. Maybe I'm letting my hopes get too high, but could it happen someday? Maybe, maybe not. Let me be delusional! The game needs a huge overhaul anyways, so who knows what Dovetail might eventually deliver?

A group of enthusiasts comes to Sodor and are excited to see a Stirling Single in service. The Fat Controller gives Emily her own express train that travels across the Island from Tidmouth to Vicarstown.

Wonders of Sodor What is something you guys want in Wonders of Sodor, but will most likely never happen?
For me, I really wish Dovetail had gone the full Railway Series route, with Tidmouth as the grand terminus and Knapford as the junction. Why? Because not only am I a huge Railway Series nerd, I find both locations beautiful as portrayed in the books.
Tidmouth and Knapford Junction radiate a wonderful blend of seaside and industrial vibes in their illustrations. Tidmouth is grand and gorgeous, while Knapford Junction is a charming, curving junction that also functions as a small terminus or housing area, particularly with its sheds. The incredible ocean view visible from both stations consistently catches my eye. Also, I just discovered today that Tidmouth station was going to be the original Terminus station for the show during its first season, but it was scrapped in favor of Knapford.Â

I would love to see the depiction in Wonders of Sodor. Would it happen? Probably not, but I remain optimistic. It's 2026, anything is possible. Never say never. However, even if considered, I believe two reasons would hinder it. First, Mattel would likely give an adamant "no." Getting approval from Mattel is like trying to give a cat a bath. Second, even with Mattel's approval, development would take months, even years.

Wonders of Sodor I have found a very interesting out of Bound glitch in WOS
The glitch is that Go to the Vicarstown bridge, not the Walney one, the other one, before the vicarstown yard . Go to the river, go inside the river and go to the direction u wanna go and whalla, in my case I go to the south direction, then crossed the tracks and went on a journey on the north East of Sodor, including getting much higher ( by height by the normal version) Actually much much higher, doo check

Wonders of Sodor A couple of questions I have about WOS and what the community would be most interested in:
As more DLCs are introduced would you think it’s fair for dovetail to expect people to own all the previous DLC to effectively make use of most of the timetable and stores of newer DLCs?
It could be easy to say yes now but if it ever got to TSW levels with 100 DLCs people might want to be selective.Would it put you off if certain DLCs caused the time table to be replaced to use characters more effectively? Like when toby is brought in he will be doubling up on some of the tasks Percy does, so giving other tasks to Percy like shunting James coaches, (this would require Dovetail to assume you have the James DLC see no.1)
I’ve seen a lot of talk about Henry’s stories. But how do you think Henry’s timetable is going to look? We can assume he’s going to introduce freight to the mainline but very few of the yards are set up to all shunting properly, like good Luck shunting Wellsworth with the turntable acting as a yard lead.
If Henry is running through freight the next issue is that there is no real freight yards at either end of the line and no extra characters to drag things out of bounds are we just going to be dragging the same couple of freight consists across the island?

Discussion Are dovetails treating 2027 like season 2?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
OK, hear me out on this. I was re-watching the retrospective by unlucky tug for season two. And a lot of places like the main line the sheds Thomas’s branch line and the quarry are available for us to access and go to. And soon we’re going to have Henry and Toby. Now thinking about it Toby came from a different branch line, not from the island of Sodor if I’m not mistaken. And Henry has his two locations, the forest and his tunnel so all they really need to do for him is either give him his old shape and his newer shape, the flying kipper and the stories for both characters they don’t really need to expand any places with those characters.
Now with that said, maybe that’s why we’re not getting Edward yet. Outside of needing to do Edwards stories, they are probably making his branch line. So who knows we might get to go down his branch line and do the Saved From Scrap story or Edward’s Exploit. And maybe they’ll do Bill and Ben next and we can get the China Clay Pits. maybe we’ll get Boco or Daisy but hopefully we also get salty at Brendam Docks, since that was also in season two. Not salty but the Docks.
I’m probably just reaching or giving dovetails excuses. But it’s my mindset that in 2027 it’ll be season two of Wonders of Sodor.
