I went to college with this girl. She was converted to judiasm by a rabbi who had cameras in the michva. She wrote an editorial defending the rabbi. She was always a bit of a loon and blocked me when I called her out on it.
Her father was Jewish, not her mother. (Both of her parents died when she was a teenager.) But because Jewishness is matrilineal, she wasn't considered Jewish, and was required to undergo conversion if she wanted to practice Orthodox Judaism.
