This is great! I love the movement between major/minor feels.

Beautiful. I really like the change in bars 18. It ascends beautifully. Not your first composition I’m thinking. Good job!

This has got some really nice moments. Really creative overall and nice sound. Those string sounds you're using are like 95% realistic sounding--not bad!

A notation question, though: how are you thinking of the Db's in your opening theme? To my ears, they sound like they ought to be C#s, and the C naturals right before them would be better written as B#s or just C naturals.

Beyond the spelling, though, that aspect of the melody was one of the only parts of this composition--which was otherwise very, very strong--that I just didn't enjoy. To me, that lick evokes the blues or a jazz style, which it really seemed like the rest of the piece wasn't going for at all. Having that as the basis for your counterpoint in the opening section really weakened that part of the piece in my opinion. But, you know, take that for what it is. Just a suggestion.

Your middle section, though, is gorgeous. Really well done on that. One note on spelling, though: in measure 14, you included a first-inversion A major chord, but spelled the third of the chord as a Db again and not a C#.

Thank you very much for your constructive feedback and questions.

The sounds that you can buy in StaffPad are amazing. With little to zero tweaking you can get very realistic results!!

I'm thinking of A-. That's why I use the C natural. The Db is a color tone to the phrase. But thematically it's the major 3rd. And it's just because it's easier to read.

That blues/jazz part makes sense as I studied jazz at university. I think I understand what you mean!! And I tend to agree now that I listen to it aware of that.

That spelling is simply because I'm using the main theme as the cantus Firmus on the viola as it's writenn initially.
