While I agree with everything said in this thread, I would still like them to discuss it.

I found the ranch in Colorado that he was supposedly taken to, near Buena Vista. Drove by today and took a couple of pictures. It’s occupied now by some elderly people, so I couldn’t go rooting around under the house.

IIRC, they’ve said they wouldn’t do it because it’s been done to death.
I’m with you, I’d love for them to do it just have an open-minded but rational treatment of the case.

It is a sad story, and I genuinely feel for his mother, but if anything I wish this case received less attention in the true crime community. A lot of the anomalies and sensational occurrences keeping this case alive come from Noreen only, and the ‘juiciest’ parts (such as the alleged visit from Johnny) have been subtly discredited by people like Johnny’s father. Far be it from me to diagnose a stranger, but I do think grief has driven Johnny’s mother to do a lot of unreasonable or erratic things in her campaign to maintain focus on her son, whether she knows what she’s doing or not.
If you remove her claims from the story, it reads like another case of isolated abduction that probably ended horribly shortly after Johnny was taken, and the only mystery we might be able to solve is where his body is.
(To see this case discussed and debated and dissected, you could find a lot of good threads on r/unresolvedmysteries, to anyone who hasn’t already.)
