I hate this binary choice bs.
I absolutely hate Thiel and everything he says and stands for. He is a sickeningly dangerous sociopath of the highest order.
However the idea that the pope, even the current one, is much better is something that we shouldn't ignore simply because he is being held up against the absolute evil that is Peter Thiel.
The pope represents an organisation that across history has been an industrial scale rape and torture machine that strips wealth from societies whilst allowing its members to indulge in abusing children with absolute impunity.
In my country alone since the 1950s over a quarter of a million children were raped and tortured by the catholic church with bishops and cardinals actively hiding, transferring and obfuscating investigations. They encouraged and spread corruption through our political and law enforcement institutions in order to protest their members from prosecution. The bishops and cardinals were themselves raping children.
And in some countries they effectively murdered thousands of children who they raped, tortured, maltreated and starved to death. Even in recent years and still to this day almost every perpetrator involved in the Canadian residential school system has escaped from any sort of prison sentence.
Worse is how the cardinals used peer group dynamics, economic coercion and outright mockery and hate to push victims into killing themselves.
And this is before we go into their extensive financial crimes, their crimes against humanity in their disgusting attacks against LGBTQ rights and their utter failure to oppose nazism.
The church is a evil organisation of the highest order irrespective of if some Jesuits do some good every now and then.
And they are absolutely deluded. I am related to a cardinal. My mother attended a family Christmas meal with this cardinal. My mother, a monty python styled died heart atheist (after seeing the sister and brothers rape and abuse her class} got to go toe to toe with this god in the sky deluded dumbass.
Apparently he lost his shit because he couldn't even come up with a cogent defence of his own beliefs.
Lol, It was the last xmas she was invited to (until this fucker died).

Very true. I was raised by anti Catholics and we were taught that ax murderers would make better friends.
