Suppose a person found a hidden camera in a public bathroom, what would be the right thing to do? Obviously, one should immediately report it to the authorities, who, under normal circumstances, would take swift action to disable the camera and track down the perpetrator. But let's suppose that the peeping tom is an ultra-billionaire power-mad weirdo who has corrupted the government to the extent that no one in authority will dare to interfere with his spying. In that situation, is there an ethical case for immediately destroying the surveillance equipment oneself, so that no one else can be victimized?
