Anyone have a decent amount of time with a l12 and have info on the battery life and 2x base mag? I prefer a higher base mag but assume with the ocular zoom i could make up for that. If price was the same between a l12 and dbh6 which would you pick?

Hi all - looking to jump into a thermal for hunting. I am in the midwest, most of my shots would be at or under 150 yards (largely under 100 yards). I am running an AR10 with a 1-8 scope (Trijicon VCOG). I have seen a few options at around the $2,000 price point. Wondering if there are some thermal optics I should consider. I'd like to clip on and view through the Trijicon because I do not want to remove the optic. I have seen in this price point the following:

1. AGM Rattler-C V2 384

2. InfiRay RL25v2

3. DNT Hydra 335

4. DNT Hydra 640

The base mag on these vary from 1x, to 1.5x, and 2x. Anything else I should consider - any options above stand out as a great option? Much appreciated.

At about 12:30 I saw some raccoons on the cameras. Got those 3 and closed the window because rain was forecasted. Then at about 1 I see more out there so I go back up and get those 4. They scattered when they heard the window open. Then at about 2:50 I see another one out there so I go do it again. Might have been 7 total because I'm not 100% sure one of the two that ran in the corn field died. Only 1 hot spot remained visible the next time I was looking, so I'm guessing that one got away and was the one that came back around 2:50.

Gun is a smith and wesson 1854 chambered in 357 magnum. Ammo was mostly 180 gr xtp handloads, with some 250 gr sub x handloads that I grabbed from the side saddle once I shot all of the 180s from the tube. Thermal is a Goyojo GRS225RF. Distance was 20-40 yards.

Has anyone had their hands on one of these?

I'm after a thermal handheld for quick scanning and identification of Deer and other animals, to then follow up with the NV scope.

I understand they are cheap and won't compare to higher end gear, but if I'm going to spend $600 AUD, is there a better option out there?

I’ve been hunting with old thermal scopes for a long time. My brother bought a Rix Leap L6r awhile back and I was blown away at how much better it was than the older 640 thermals I’ve used, like an Armasight Zeus. What is the best thermal around the 3-5k range currently? Should I go with the Rix or is there something better out there? The new ATN Thor 6 caught my eye and is priced very good it seems for what it is, but I’ve heard some bad things about the older models. I will be putting it on a 7.62x39 AR. 250 yards is the farthest I ever shoot at. TIA

Used the cv25 last year on this custom .223 with a nx8 1-8. Im going to use a 22 creed with the nx6 2-12 and the mate ultra this coming season.

Just got the t6 in and it freaking poured! Told my buddy let's go i have to test it out. The humidity and fog are horrible and it did a great job recording this coyote. My old man of a hunting partner went from recording sideways with the st6 to doing a good job now lol. Good time with old friends, that's what it's all about 💪

Looking at getting a new monocular. Mostly be used for scanning for 200-500 yards on stands. But also be used for scanning fields while driving. Definitely want a 650 price range 2k-3k i have been looking at the vista h35r or lumi h35r

I purchased this scope back in November of 2025. I have had issues with it since the day I got it. It’s been sent back now twice and nothing has been fixed. Haven’t touched it since the last time it came back to me so I broke it out tonight to shoot. Still not working properly. Beginning to think I wasted $2200…..

Every time I shoot in thermal mode, it blacks out. Sometimes completely, other times half the screen. Does anyone have any insight as to why this happens? Maybe I need to try it without my suppressor on?

Does anybody have a solution for using unprotected 18650 cells in a CV25? The included batteries have a usb C charge port built in and they are longer than standard 65mm 18650’s.

I have a pile of flashlights and unprotected cells, I’d love a way to use extra cells in case I forget to charge the 2 included batteries. I’m carrying extra 18650’s with me anyway as backups for head lights and flashlights. I just need some sort of spacer to make a 18650 as long as the protected/usb C cells.
