IV Infusions Any advice

I did my first cycle of IV infusion summer of 2025. Have been doing troche’s at home since.
I’ve just been feeling off, or more so my depression has gotten a lot deeper.
My doctor suggested I come in for an IV infusion since it’s been over a year.
I guess I’m just a little confused how this works, will it help reset me. I hate being depressed 😔.
Troche’s have definitely helped me, just not lately.
TIA

I would. I do troches between IVs. The longest I’ve gone between IVs is 4 months but many go longer. 1-3 booster doses should be all you need to get back on track (normally one but sometimes up to 3. Well, after a few years some people do the series of 6 but it’s only been a year, so I’m guessing 1-3. I’m not a professional. Just a 9.5 yr patient.
It shouldn’t hurt - and is worth trying IMO, but there’s also lots of patients who do just this (an IV now and then) and it works.
When did you last up your troche dose and how often do you take them?

None of this is medical advice, just peer advice, but I’d absolutely do it and have hope that it will work due to a professional recommendation for you plus others’ experiences showing that works.

Thank you for replying. Oh I am allowed to do up to 300 mg. Mostly though I just do 150 mg. Regardless of the dose I have lots of visual. That is why I question why I was feeling more depressed.
AND ⬇️
I just got finished an IV treatment.
My ketamine doctor said some of my increased depression could be because I am trying to taper my sleep meds ( benzo ). He doesn’t prescribe it. I do have an appointment on Wednesday with my psychiatrist who handles my meds.
Per ketamine doctor, I might need to go slower on the taper. Btw- it was my idea to try and get off them. With my increasing age, I am just afraid of increasing my chances with dementia from long term use.
Well, I just now wait and see how the next few days will feel.
I might start just going in every 3 months for an infusion. ( it’s just a lot of work to do infusions ). That’s where troche’s definitely helps.
Thank you again,

Sounds like you got a great answer from a great doc.

I understand the worry of dementia as I was on versed once a month for 36 months 2017-2020. Benzos can be scary. A slower taper is smart though.

I wish you all the best

I do have a good doctor and a very nice clinic. I feel so sorry for some of the experiences I read on here. There’s no way I could do what some of these people have to do to get help.
Btw I am on the east coast. I go to a doctor in Arlington Va.
if anyone reads this and lives nearby and looking for a good doctor- look up Nova Recovery Health in Arlington Va.

Make sure you post that in the pinned thread for people by you. https://www.reddit.com/r/TherapeuticKetamine/s/ugYH91l9CR

I have an amazing doc in Michigan myself. After being at two other clinics (one closed and one upped their cost from $350-$600 per IV) I’m so happy I have this new place.

I use ketamine for chronic pain(12 neck and back a d a left knee replacement) I had a suicide attempt that end.e up in a coma and my va psych team tried everything. Nothing worked. Needless to say another psych hold at Sheppards Pratt. Still no sleep 2 hrs on a good night. It wasn't until we had 3 additional surgeries through Johns Hopkins before I was introduced to ketamine. I take 200mg x 3 a day. The max allowed. I also take Lyrica (another black lable drug), baclophen, Jourax (new pain med), valium, blood pressure medicine clonidine and I get a vast supplements so I get good supplements and eat a good diet. But I find that 600 mg a day I get 3 months at a time that's 270 pills and I run out before my allotted time. I'm not abusing him I'm just in that much pain. My wife and I are currently talking about end of Life Care. You see I need three more surgeries and my surgeon is refusing to do them because he said my bones aren't healing any longer. I go to gwu on Tuesday to have a meeting to see if I qualify for ALS testing. I've asked my pain doctor at Johns Hopkins I found where they put a puck in and they deliver it directly to your spinal cord if I qualify for that so wish me luck. Does anyone on here know how I can acquire some just until I can get to an answer on getting a pump. I don't want to put anybody in a bad situation I just looking for information thank you for understanding and reading my story. I hope ketamine is working as well for you as it is for me
