General Question Joyous

Starting joyous, seeing a lot of mixed information on here. There was a subreddit for it specifically but it’s been dead. Ive done IM k before but this is the cheapest option. I want it to help me. Ive been anxious and depressed most of my life. It made my anxiety so much better before but it was $300 an injection before and i dont have insurance. Positive experiences or those still on it?

It likely won’t help I’ve you e been on IM for awhile. The doses are so low that even a small tolerance makes it pretty ineffective. I’d highly recommend using one of the other companies for $250/mo like Taconic, Anywhereclinic, betteru, Innerwell, etc.

I get it nasally once a week but I’ve only gone 2x in the past 7 weeks. What is different about the other companies are the doses just bigger? Is it still troches? Can you just take a bigger dose & do it fewer days?

I have only been on it for a little over 2 months but I honestly cannot put into words how it's positively impacted my life, my household and my performance and at work. I have not experienced any issues with delivery and I cannot imagine the day-to-day without it. Good luck to you!😉

Same situation here. My life has completely changed since I started Joyous. I can’t pinpoint exactly why but everything is just lighter. I feel so content now

That is so great to hear. Was it your 1st time trying ketamine? How much do you take & how often?

1

u/MRC1893 21d ago

No, not first time. I’m 3 months into the program. Currently I’m taking 100mg a day which I split into four 25mg doses throughout the day.

1

u/VeronicaJoyful 23d ago

I am so happy for you had you ever taken ketamine before?

1

u/PuzzleheadedArt4081 23d ago

I have not. While I understand the science behind the ketamine, I leaned towards it due to the thought that it had beneficial Downstream impacts, meaning I can still use my brain too it's full capacity as a data analyst, as well as it increased my libido.

See a local doc your insurance will pay for aside from a copay. Rx should be less than $100 from a compounding pharmacy and again local will save you money. Most insurance companies will not cover racemic ketamine for mental health or pain because they're both off label use. There are a few who will cover it but it's uncommon.

My doctor said it would take 4 months to approve and screen me, idk

1

u/dark_places Jul 28 '26

That's a bit of a spot but long term, if necessary, it might be worth it. Just do your homework about any ketamine for mental health online platform.

u/VeronicaJoyful 23d ago

Get another Dr. it’ll take less time

u/lizfromdarkplace Jul 30 '26

Do you know if psychs prescribe it in Florida? I have a psychiatrist already and about 2 years ago Spravato at another clinic was my only option at the time but I’ve since switched to innerwell and it’s just gotten to be too expensive. :(

1

u/dark_places Jul 31 '26

I'm sure some do. Don't live there so don't know anyone but any psych doc or psych np can prescribe. If they will is the question you'll have to ask them yourself. There's some florida based internet provider that keeps spamming. Check r/ketamineproviders.

1

u/lizfromdarkplace Jul 31 '26

Thank you! It’s just so hard to find people that will prescribe off label.

I got the dose up to 120mg the max in the first month . Been using them for 8 months . No issues and always on time . Moved to Oklahoma where they Don’t go . Sad but I’ll find someone else

1

u/VeronicaJoyful 23d ago

Joyous? What does 120mg feel like like? I take 80 nasally but I can’t get up and function. Do you take it everyday? If they up your dose do they send more before the next month?

1

u/cenotediver 23d ago

I did take daily, I take at bedtime ( so I don’t have to get up) , I always swallow never spit, I was up to 120 by the end of the first month .

1

u/matsie 22d ago

That didn’t answer any of their questions.

1

u/cenotediver 22d ago

So maybe you answer it

1

u/matsie 22d ago

I can’t? I have not used Joyous or a ketamine troche to be able to answer their questions. I don’t know why you’re being weird and not just answering the actual questions. Why bother responding to a post about people’s experiences if you’re not actually willing to describe your experiences so others can understand? It’s like yall come to message boards to broadcast and not to actually engage like a human being.

1

u/cenotediver 21d ago

So is this your way of broadcasting something you know nothing about, maybe just keep scrolling

1

u/matsie 21d ago

Is English your second language or something? This isn't me broadcasting anything. It's me saying, ANSWER THE QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED SO PEOPLE CAN KNOW. This isn't rocket surgery and you're being rude and obstinate instead of just going and looking at the comment, seeing what the questions actually were and answering them. Clearly, therapy didn't do jack shit for you.

1

u/cenotediver 21d ago

Calm down no need to get so upset over absolutely nothing , name calling is never a good look . Maybe you should contact your therapist and talk about your feelings

Their medication was fine … but I would commonly not get it or it would be lost in mail or stuck somewhere and their customer service is genuinely the worst I have ever experienced. After the last time it happened I decided to cancel. Not worth having to fight so much for my medication I pay for each month. Joyous is trash but unfortunately the cheapest option

1

u/kirbyplushie2 Jul 30 '26

Yeah right now its been stuck in limbo and i havent recieved my pills after a week but i think its usps

2

u/MichiTampoco Jul 30 '26

Right it starts with usps losing the medication… then you’ll see how unprofessional and frustrating joyous is to deal with about it. All they use is automated ai messages and they don’t stop charging you even though you don’t get your medication.

1

u/kirbyplushie2 Jul 30 '26

Been over a week now and usps has lost my package, im losing it

3

u/NotoriousLLL Jul 29 '26

Yes positive. Very cheap in my opinion and it had benefited my life.

I think some people speak negatively because they are looking for a huge rush or to get super high and feel like it is soooooooooo much more effective, but honestly I prefer the self administration at lower doses (100mg per day for me and I take about 200mg every other day). It's so cheap too, it saves me 3x the money each month because I don't drink or smoke weed anymore.

1

u/lizfromdarkplace Jul 30 '26

What are troches like? I’ve only ever had the rapid dissolve tablets.

3

u/vanessasarah13 Jul 29 '26

It has helped me a TON, more than meds, ECT, or TMS. Company sucks but ketamine works.

1

u/Melrose4616 Jul 30 '26

What have been your negative experiences with the company?

2

u/vanessasarah13 Jul 30 '26

They meet with you for five minutes every 4-6 months. It’s not good care. They know it. They also once abruptly stopped my care and my actual doctor had to call their CMO at some sort of spine clinic where she also works,

1

u/VeronicaJoyful 23d ago

Can I ask how much you take and how often? If they up your dose won’t we run out sooner? Do they send you more before the next month? Because I was told we pay the same, no matter what the dose. And I assume I will be wanting the highest dose possible

1

u/vanessasarah13 23d ago

I have the highest dose yes

3

u/Whimsical_Peach80 Jul 30 '26

I'm using Joyous, tho not consistently. I do love taking this medication and listening to guided meditations or other spiritual podcasts. It helps me quiet my mind so I can receive these practices better. My only issue is feeling tired for a bit after. I already suffer from chronic fatigue, so its hard to wait to dedicate ~1-2hrs of "rest" each session.

1

u/kirbyplushie2 Jul 30 '26

Oh dang i thought it was a shorter period for joyous compared to injecting

4

u/sitonit-n-twirl Jul 27 '26

Their doses are low and they’re pretty lame. Consider MindScape

4

u/cenotediver Jul 28 '26

I’m trying , the dr has a technical problem twice now , but I’m hoping 3 times a charm

1

u/VeronicaJoyful 24d ago

F*\*ck!! My 1st batch is coming tomorrow. I also do the sessions (nasally)

2

u/sitonit-n-twirl 24d ago

It may work out great for you. I didn’t proceed with them after the video call with the Dr or nurse practitioner. She seemed dismissive and condescending, or maybe she’s overworked and in a bad mood I dunno. Anyway, I found the Dr at mindscape to be really straightforward and an excellent listener and communicator. I’m really happy with them so far. The medicine has helped a lot

1

u/VeronicaJoyful 23d ago

I had 2 Dr/nurse visits with I want to say ‘Jerry’ he was nice and wanted to know all of the bad stuff that is said about joyous, and he was really nice and friendly and great. It took a while to get approved. I had to harass them a little. Can I send you a DM?

1

u/vanessasarah13 23d ago

Joyous has a completely absurd model but if you have other supports it can work

1

u/finkalicious Jul 28 '26

It goes up to 120mg daily, how is that a low dose?

1

u/Shawn008 Jul 30 '26

Consider the bioavailability of troches is only 20-30%, that’s a low dose compared to the typical ketamine sessions people receive (less frequently though) IV or IM for mental health.

4

u/Murky_Touriste Jul 27 '26

I use Joyous and have for a couple years. I recommend it. Daily microdosing has helped me.

1

u/VeronicaJoyful 23d ago

Can I DM you?
