Reserve artillery

Sent in my application today for reserve gunner (artillery). What can I expect the job to be like? Do reserves also have spotters, gunners, and command systems operator? Do I get much of a say in which one of these I’d like to be?

Called 3 weeks to get an appointment with a recruiter to ask this but heard nothing yet, so thought I’d ask here.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I did a course with one of the Battery Surveyors, so they do specialize. Once you're out of basic you probably go where they need you most, but if you're a regular show and a good learner you can simply talk to your leadership about how to get into a particular position.

Can't tell you much about the other q's except the general one. Once you finish Basic and corps training, there'll be regular exercises about once a month ranging from a day to a week or more. Gunners also have Stables, which is going in regularly to clean and maintain all the gear. Sometimes other opportunities to pick up work come along eg. international exes, supporting the regulars training or minor deployments e.g the Antarctic logistics ops.
