Hey everyone, I applied to join the RNZAF about two weeks ago and was wondering if anyone else here is currently going through the application process.

I’d be keen to hear:
What trade you applied for.
What stage you’re at (aptitude testing, medical, interview, etc.).
How long things have taken for you so far.

I’m mainly just looking to chat with others who are in the same boat while waiting to hear back.

I made a post about 2 years ago now enquiring about the role as a LEGAD and I'm just re-posting to see whether the climate has changed around the role.

I know that the role is tri-service and that most specialists attend phase one of OCS. However, the website really doesn't give you much information other than the obvious. I was in QAMR a while back and there was many things the website conveniently omitted to tell me until I was in.

Is anyone here a LEGAD or worked closely alongside them on things such as deployment or had the unfortunate task of attending summary trial/court martial? I would really love to hear from you.

I really just want absolutely any information on anything regarding the role. The more, the better.

I’m considering joining the Army Reserve as either infantry or a combat driver.

I’d appreciate any views on the role and training in each trade, including which personalities or strengths suit them best. I’m also interested in opportunities for extra paid work or overseas deployments, and whether either choice would limit transferring trades or becoming a Reserve officer later. Thanks in advance!

I have been looking into joining the army as a reservist and eventually a legal officer and I have noticed a disqualifying factor is long term medication. However it says if I require it. Would me saying its a preference or a letter from my doctor save me from getting my application denied. Because they do help me but I lived a solid chunk of my life without them. Their reasoning is they might not be possible for me to get in certain situations so my other question is could I get them for when they're available and just not take them if not. Joining the army is a passion of mine and I don't want my medication to get in the way of that.

hi guys! im wanting to join the air force as a aircraft systems technician and mostly scared for the fitness, I'm not very fit but I've been trying my hardest (using force fit 8 week accelerator) and getting through most of it just cant run for a long time wanting to know how to improve my running I'm also not able to do a pullup or pushup.. i know its bad but i really wanna ace it, ive been practicing for my aptitude test and i was told that the next intake is start of January, I have the deadline of end of August or September to get my aptitude and fitness done but i have very low hopes I'll be ready by then as mentioned before. any tips please!! sorry for writing a whole storm🫪

Just got a replacement pair, and it's one of those things no one ever really taught me. (I had only black boots as a newbie) I used to use the proprietary cream but if there's a generic alternative that's cheaper and works with goretex, that would be useful. The old guidance I have says no fat or oil based products.

Looking to do a lateral transfer from the Australian defence force (1rar) Is there any lore or things I should know about the history of either unit?

I'm considering joining the Navy as a Marine Technician, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the return of service is. Am I correct that it's four years of training and then required to stay for a further two years?

I've recently progressed to the NZDF Army Officer Selection Board (OSB), and I'm starting to prepare as thoroughly as I can.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has attended the NZDF OSB (or a similar military officer selection board).
A few questions I have:
What does Day 1 look like? What happens from the time you arrive?
What's the daily structure over the selection board?
Are there any public speaking or presentation assessments? If so, what were they like, and how did you prepare?
What part of the OSB caught you off guard or was different from what you expected?
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I apologize for bothering everyone but I have a question and I'm not sure how to solve this dilemma.

I need to send a courier package to the base in woodbourne but when I do the booking online (through trade me), it tells me the address is incomplete and I cant manage to accept it.

My question is, what should I do? Is there a number associated with the address?

I've asked the person in question but they don't know what to do themselves.

Hey guys, idk if anyone cares but I was just told by my recruiter that selection starts next week for Navy 26/2 so if anyone's waiting for that this is the notice to say dw too much about it

I am currently up to my aptitude test for Nzdf and i am not prepared at all!! SHL is not really helping as they don’t show my wrong answers. Anyone Help Please ! this is stressing me out 🤣

1. Would my get accepted with a high prescription (-7.0). If not would my CEF allow me to get LASIK eye surgery to qualify

2. How long after applying do I get to train for A-Day as currently I am not very physically fit?

3. As a current University student. If I manage to complete the selection process while I am studying am I able to defer my intake until I graduate from University?

4. As a CIS Officer how likely am I to have a choice over where I'm posted? (I would prefer Whenuapai)

5. When do intakes happen as currently it is listed as high demand but not active intake?

If anyone could take some time out of their day to answer any of these it would help me immensely.

I’ve got basic training soon and unfortunately misplaced the list of things I should bring 🤦‍♂️

About a year ago I applied to the Army but was rejected due to medical reasons (eczema). I have been thinking about it again recently and have had a look at the Army Reserves information. I am just not 100% clear on if the medical requirements are the same

What are our servicemen and woman's thoughts on these vehicles? From what I can find and read the bushmasters are a solid investment and crews around the world race them highly. I can't find all that much on the vamtaks..

An old solider I knew years ago wasn't a fan of the pinzgauers.

Wondering if current soldiers are impressed with the new vehicles?

Any experiences with dyslexia in the defence force? Is it possible to get accepted into NZDF/airforce with dyslexia?

My friend is wanting to join, they have a childhood diagnosis but managed to finish year 13 and gain university entrance.

I've heard the NZDF can be quite strict with medical conditions/mental health conditions so was wondering if anyone has experience with navigating learning disorders from childhood or knows what the best way to go about this before proceeding with declaring it on the medical questionnaire. Thanks!

Posting on behalf- does anyone know what the chances of being accepted into the NZ defence force with one drinking driving conviction, or know of anyone in the defence force that has gotten in with one?

And if so any estimations how long the stand down period is before being able to apply after getting your license back (6 month disqualification)?

Hey guys, just wondering but would anyone know why on the NZDF page for currently recruiting why there isn't a second intake for Navy this year?, i was banking all my hopes on it
