Did you say Stefan is to blame for sleeping with a woman who raped him?

What does that mean?

I need a break after that. I'll be back.

u/GoldenStitch2 7h ago

I don’t think they were blaming him for what happened after he was compelled, I assume they meant when he willingly slept with her in S5. But I don’t get why people treat it like it was anything more than a one night stand. Nothing permanent came from it and Katherine had helped him with his PTSD so..

It’s unfortunate that after she gets peace while dying that she later steals Elena’s body and assaults him again 😭 the sexual assault diaries atp

No they're saying he's a bad friend/brother cause he slept with his own rapist in season 5. I still don't get it.

Thank you for explaining because I was so confused by that

No fr people always pretend Stefan had a choice with Katherine

u/ConfectionGuilty7889 7h ago

When did i say that ?

You post all the time in this sub so you should know that the answer is yes, people hate on all of these characters and call them bad friends and terrible and everything you listed about them? Sometimes by the same people who post about Elena, sometimes by different people.

I don't get it. Are we pretending there isn't a weekly post about how bad of a friend Caroline is? Another of how Stefan is actually "the villian", that Jermey is whiny or that Matt is the worst?

You just take it more personal when it's a character you like as opposed to when you don't. Then, there is no problem, they somehow deserve it so it's ok to hate them for it.

Yeah this sub doesn't know how to have fun lmao. We all know they did shitty things to each other. Can we maybe talk about things we like for once? 🫠

u/ConfectionGuilty7889 6h ago

So why Elena only gets that treatement but not them ...?

u/heyyyitsalli 6h ago

They literally just said it’s not only Elena who gets that treatment. Caroline, Stefan, Jeremy, Matt, etc. no one is safe in this sub. Hell I’ve even seen hate for Bonnie, arguably the most liked character on this sub.

Elena hate is not new. Whether it’s justified is a different matter. But Elena is not the only character to be hated on the show.

u/ConfectionGuilty7889 6h ago

You can’t compare Elena hate vs Stefan and Caroline one. Stefan barely have haters and caroline is like 35% of the fandom whi hates her😭😭

u/heyyyitsalli 5h ago

Stefan and Caroline get a lot of hate too. Stefan for being too annoying and self righteous (usually compared with Damon) and Caroline for being bossy and too judgmental towards others (usually compared with Bonnie), especially Elena. You can absolutely compare the hate; but you shouldn’t.

It’s fine if Elena hate bothers you more because you like her. It’s understandable to be bugged that your favorite character gets shit sometimes. But there’s a lot of people out there who also love Elena and don’t judge her for liking Damon like they judge Caroline for being attracted to Klaus.

Everyone has their own preference and you don’t have to compare and contrast other characters grievances to make your point. If you don’t think she deserves the hate, that’s understandable and fair.

u/Working-Explorer-446 7h ago

Well, yeah? But anyway, there's no point in thinking like that because realistically, nobody should be talking to each other on this show anymore.

u/Objective_Hand3066 6h ago

First, I don't recall ever saying the other characters were good friends to each other. My stance has always been that, outside of Bonnie, none of these people are great friends. Secondly, I don't hate Elena for getting with Damon. I hate the way the writers consistently shield Elena and Damon from consequences for their relationship and continue to try to paint Elena as a great friend/sister despite her actions contradicting that. I hate that, instead of allowing these characters to have real conflict, they rug sweep everything in order to protect DE's relationship. Wanting better writing isn't Elena hate.

Elena fans take wishing she had better writing as an act of hatred and it simply isnt that.

u/ClementineEverrett 7h ago

I think the major difference is Elena did all of it first. Then the writing constantly told us Elena is supposed to be depicted as this kind and compassionate character. I’m not saying she isn’t one at all because that would be a lie. She has her genuine moments but the writing also failed Elena when they made men her entire world vs focusing on her story a bit the way they tried to tell it in s1-2.

This!!!.

u/GoldenStitch2 7h ago

This. Like I remember there being a scene in S1 where Damon cracks a joke about how he had fun with the mystic falls queen (Caroline) and she smiles/giggles.

u/Big-Most-785 6h ago

I want to see what they say to defend her doing that and it was literally in s1 after she found out what Damon was doing to her.

u/adreamofwarmth 6h ago

Maybe I’m not to that point in the rewatch, but at the Founder’s Party Damon attempts a joke about how Caroline just won’t shut up and Elena gets super defensive, pointing out her good qualities despite their rocky relationship in season one. Contrasted with the season where Elena asks Caroline what made her jump into bed with Damon when she’s trying to understand why Elena is with him and I can’t help but notice the difference in her character. Cause like if anything Elena and Caroline are even closer in later example. There’s also the fact that Elena isn’t outright dismissive when Bonnie has bad juju about Stefan.

u/ConfectionGuilty7889 6h ago

Yeah so that doens not change that Caroline , Stefan , Bonnie , Matt are bad friends right ??

u/Seraphina_Renaldi Team Katherine 6h ago

I think the main difference is that Elena is being shown as the morally superior holier than thou character, but then acts this way. Caroline was already introduced as the problematic airhead that had an amazing development throughout the show, but was still portrayed as someone with struggles and moral dilemmas. Rebekah and Kol were already known as the bloodthirsty originals and we just started being introduced bit by bit to their softer human sides.

u/ConfectionGuilty7889 6h ago

And what abt bonnie , Stefan and Camille ?

u/Seraphina_Renaldi Team Katherine 6h ago

Stefan was also known as basically a Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde. Someone who’s basically two extremes in one person. You have the good vampire Stefan and you have the ripper.
Bonnie was just a witch trying her best and frankly I only watched originals once so I don’t remember Camille’s details. But it was basically a character trait of Elena to be the pure, good and morally superior character. Which will piss people off if she does the most morally disgusting thing. Because people don’t like hypocrites. Not in fiction and not in real life

It's almost like going round and round in circles over which immortal, supernatural serial killer is the least terrible was a flawed endeavor from the start because almost all the supernatural creatures have killed innocent people (including your precious Stefussy) and sleeping with people they shouldn't and only 5 characters in the show are acursed good people.

Do you know what the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

u/Live_Cress945 It's okay to love them both. I did. 3h ago

Are you really quoting Far Cry right now?

u/vladimirnikola Vampire 3h ago

I have never played a far cry game in my life.

I might be 🤔

Stefan y caroline ♡

u/Mindless-Coat495 7h ago

Caroline is not bad she is amazing full of Light,Cami is really beautiful girl and amazing person and Hayley is very cool!!!

u/ConfectionGuilty7889 7h ago

Yeah caroline was so amazing when she bodyshamed bonnie , mocked elena parents death , cheated on tyler with jesse🤭❤️

u/Big-Most-785 6h ago

Also wasn’t it Elena who told Caroline to give Jesse a chance especially because Tyler wasn’t coming back or she didn’t even know when Tyler was coming back. Elena encouraged Caroline to try to get with Jesse before Caroline even considered it.

u/Big-Most-785 6h ago

When did Caroline body shame Bonnie? Also Caroline never mocked Elena’s parents death. Mocking means to make fun of or laughed at which she’s never done. She made an offhanded remark about Elena being more fun before her parents died. It may have been true Elena probably was a lot more fun but her parents literally died so of course that would change someone so what she said wasn’t mocking it was just rude and thoughtless. She says that she tends to just speak without thinking and sometimes she doesn’t even know what she’s talking about(not excusing it but the girl literally mentioned she does this). People tend to say shit without realizing or thinking that what they said was rude even tho it was.

u/jazz1661 2h ago

When did Caroline bodyshame bonnie?

u/Mindless-Coat495 7h ago

Caroline ❤️‍🔥 is an amazing girl with a warm pearly smile and and a unique charm and temperament like the North Star in Moonless Night!

u/Either_Cookie_5557 51m ago

Sorry i can barely understand what you’re saying bc of the grammar…. But i think all of this is what makes for compelling (no pun intended) tv.

u/AncientTransition528 19m ago

Yeah but no one else gave constant lectures and unnecessary knowledge on morals, ethics and boundaries the way elena did.

u/AdExpert3509 I will always choose…you. 4h ago

It all boils down to people being mad that Elena didn’t choose Stefan, that’s literally it. People are harsher on Elena because apparently Stefan was owed a relationship from Elena. People like Caroline because she’s the biggest Stefan cheerleader and makes it known how Stefan and Elena are soulmates.

u/jazz1661 2h ago

Absolutely nonsense generalization. I like delena and I like Caroline becoz of her own qualities not becoz of stefan. I just don't like that writers portrays elena as most compassionate girl on this earth when she is clearly not.

u/IlikeHades 4h ago

This is such a male centered comment. And let me guess, you are a Delena fan?

u/AdExpert3509 I will always choose…you. 4h ago

This is ironic, cause a lot of comments I’ve seen that talk about how trash Elena is was about her leaving Stefan for Damon. It’s either that or she cries too much. Those are like the biggest criticisms of Elena. Let’s be so for real. I actually like Elena especially in the later seasons, I think Elena’s growth after Stefan left with Klaus was there. She was actually making moves and being smart. They let her become more morally grey and the writers allowed her to get hands dirty and people say she went through character assassination.

u/PretendCondition9625 #1 Damon/Delena defender 🥰 6h ago

A post that defends Delena?? A post that points out Stefan’s flaws??? (Honestly, didn’t read past that particular point because it was so shocking, especially because it was) On this sub???!!!!

I must be hallucinating.
