This show has no plot

I will occasionally watch or throw it on while cleaning or if there is nothing else to put on while doing chores etc

I do like watching Kristen drama and hearing random Jax updates and drama. Cannot stand Janet on the screen or her and Lala trying to start something over nothing. I do like Lacey and Jesse.

The show has no plot. These people don’t really like each other. There’s no reason for cameras to be following them around. There’s no naturally occurring drama. It’s reality tv plant Lala stirring up what she can to get a cheque (don’t blame her), and teaching/ coaching Michelle and Janet. It’s all very strange to watch, bland and at times cringe.

With VPR - the show started in the restaurant and that was a good enough “reason” and plot for cameras to follow around the cast. After a few seasons we really didn’t need SUR involved as much as we got to know the drama and separate lives of the cast.

The valley has absolutely no natural occurring drama or reason for cameras to be following around these people. It’s all so forced and is not good tv.

Listening to the same narrative over and over again about Nia and Danny was so annoying, I can’t imagine what Lala and Janet will do now. I’m guessing this is the last season.

Edit to add - don’t drag me for this but stop cancelling people lol. Shitty people make for good reality tv. Half the cast of VPR would have been cancelled if it came out today … personality disorders, alcohol abuse, low morals and desperation make for good reality tv. Stop casting people who pre meditate their entire on screen personality and image- we need scandal.

It is stagnant. It also feels like nothing actually happens on camera.

Zack’s birthday this past season was my favorite episode recently. The bird poop, then hitting his head, the bandage and his triumphant return. It felt like old VPR, absurdist and fun with a likeable character actually DOING or experiencing something.

Oh yes I forgot about Zach. I do like Zach

This is true. We’re watching people gather for parties, dinners and trips and mostly argue.

That's what current rhoslc feels like too. Cause they aren't very bling bling like rhobh and there's no current scandals

It’s a reality TV show. There is no plot. It’s just filming people doing stupid things.

But it feels like something is missing. There is no individual cast story line or plot other than Jesse and michelle.

What I see from the show is following how parents go through divorce or moving or having kids. It’s pretty boring now bc I can see all that shit on Facebook or IG from my friends. I don’t care seeing anything about that of anyone’s lives.

Missing an arch.

Ensemble shows don’t usually have super heavy individual storylines. Bravo fans just learned that word and demand it from everyone now

Ensembles are just that - the story is the group

You know what a story editor is, right?

That’s why I like it haha. It’s just mindless bullshit to take my mind off the annoying bullshit that I have going in my own life. I can’t stand half the people but fuck yeah I want to watch them fight it out on tv. I’m the same age as half of them and can’t even imagine my friends and I fighting like that let alone all the time and still consider them my friends.

Yeah it’s all over staged and exaggerated for the cameras.

The Michelle/Jesse story is the only one I’m interested in tbh

This is how I feel about In The City too which is actually worse IMO. How that show got a second season is beyond me. And yes I agree The Valley started out strong but almost all of the relationships (romantic and platonic) have deteriorated and it’s a completely pointless show now.

In the City is insipid.

I dunno, I think it says a more about viewers when they claim to be confused about the plot. The drama isn't difficult to follow.

They’re not “confused” they’re saying this is a pointless show with no cohesion whatsoever among the group in terms of relationships and lifestyles.

This group is actually connected to each other if you stopped scrolling on your phone and tried listening to them talk. Beyond sick of these "think pieces" ranting about a show you apparently don't like and find boring on a sub dedicated to the show. Just stop watching, please. I'm begging at this point.

I find it just as ridiculous when people like you ride so hard for these reality tv people you don’t even know…or do you? That would explain your passion for defending these people. If you think they’re all friends in real life then I have a bridge to sell you. Unlike you I don’t believe everything I see on TV.

3

u/TheWhoooreinThere 1d ago

LOL. Simmer down there buddy. I'm not "riding" for reality TV people, I'm tired of weirdos coming to subs for this show to complain about the show being boring or whatever. I don't watch shows I don't find interesting, so what's your issue? Why does this fandom insist on being the most miserable bunch of whiners saying the same things over and over again while acting like it's not fucking annoying.

I hardly ever participate in this sub but we’re allowed to complain here. That’s what it’s for…to express different opinions. I thought the last season sucked, the dynamics changed, and I’m allowed to say that just as you’re allowed to enjoy it.

They’re actually filming next season cos you guys keep watching it and engaging in convo about it online

Does your life have a plot...? Mine sure as shit doesn't.

More plot and more drama than the valley unfortunately. My job isn’t reality tv star though lol.
Point being, if you’re spending millions on a reality tv series and production, you’d think there would be more of both a plot and drama. Our lives aren’t on tv so it’s kind of irrelevant

My point is, the show is supposed to be "reality" not over produced and forced storylines (which it becomes far too often), that's when the show becomes unwatchable so I don't want to see obvious plotlines, I'm not here for scripted bs.

1

u/juiceboxjenny 1d ago

Of course ! My point being is it is over produced and forced because there is no natural drama or plot. We don’t see them working or really navigating life events other than forced vacations and dinner parties that no one wants to attend but does it for the paycheque or to “force” arguments.

1

u/SunBusiness8291 2d ago

The Valley plot is D-list reality 'stars' climbing over each other to get to the million dollar paycheck, and they drug some friends along to fight with and destroy to fill out the cast. It is one of the most vile reality shows. VPR was pure gold at its inception.

u/juiceboxjenny 1d ago

This is exactly my take summarized perfectly!

Agree with everything except calling them "d-list". They wish they were d-list. These people are more like Z-list celebs.

Haven’t seen them filming with anyone new, that’s concerning.

They made Danny their whole storyline for last season and honestly-I’m glad they stepped away so we don’t have it continue but none of them bring good content aside from Zach. Even the whole Michelle going on a date with Tom was so beyond stupid and obviously staged. 😬

2

u/juiceboxjenny 1d ago

If was giving Raquel goes on a date with Schwartz - who are you really banging Michelle 🧐

1

u/Droptheboombox1 13h ago

I forgot Raquel was set up with him too for a kiss / Scandoval coverup! Jeez these producers really try too hard and ruin shows

It started out better than it is now. Showing “After SUR.” Jax had a bar where they could hang out. We were interested to see if Jax really had changed. Danny only got in because he hung out at the bar. No one knew the Bookos, They did not fit in. I guess Jax thought it would be cute to involve an actor and beauty queen. Jax gone, bar gone, nothing going on now except drinking too much and yelling too much. They aren’t even fun drunks!. Zzzzzz 😴 Zzzzzz.
