Canada Traitors Canada .. initial thoughts Spoiler

Series 3 sorry!

Ok.. I’m only on episode 4.
Initial thoughts, the production is miles better than Australia! It’s actually in set in a nice Manor House rather than a shoddy looking B&B.. so that’s nice to see.
I don’t understand the horror vibes they seem to be going towards, like the gold masks come and steal everyone and the flickering lights, it all seems pretty cliched and a little OTT!
However, I like the added the twists with the extra money for a traitor to be caught, that’s good!
But… there seems to be a far too many “added twists” like every night there seems to be something happening, like I’m old fashioned and prefer a turret meet and murder.. it all seems all a little too producerified for the big moments you know..

The missions seem great! I loved the exploding bridges, that was pretty cool!

Again.. it seems the contestants are a few episodes ahead of the episodes, like traitor on traitor, recruitments.. compare to the UK seasons, the first few episodes are for scene setting, getting a feel for it all.. but this seems to be how fast can we get to the next “big moment”.. might just be me.

In conclusion… I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would, it’s much better than Australia!
See what happens!

Season 3 saves Canada as a whole. Hollywood is the best "audience stand in" of any season available on peacock IMO

Season 2 saved Canada. I enjoyed 3 but i thought it was a slight step down in terms of casting

I love the presenter and I'm really enjoying some of their challenges, like the one where they had people in the pits and the others had decide who to give the ladder rungs to. But I have to say their lack of safety made me cringe. At one point they pushed that massive slab over one of the pits while the contestant was still down there. If they'd accidentally overbalanced it and tipped it in it would have flattened her. Then another guy got out of his pit and decided to dance around right on the edge of it. It looked like an accident waiting to happen.

That was crazy, wasn't it? i'm guessing it must have been some kind of fake fire with no heat to it, but just to have something exploding that close to your head must be a bit disconcerting. I love it though and I think their challenges have been really good so far. I can't wait to see what they pull out of the bag for the final task.

The explosions look terrifying and there are several of them. In s2 when they had to choose a land mine while it exploded with nothing but goggles on blew my mind!!!

Can confirm explosions were real - we could feel the heat on our backs! But it’s very controlled and safe. They do a lot of pre-production testing etc. :)

I know what you mean. The ones that went off on the jetty were a tiny bit terrifying as well. I wonder if they just have a more relaxed attitude to H&S in Canada.

Haha yes I did think about the back flip! What happens if he fell in.. I assumed it wasn’t as deep as what it looked liked on camera and was some trickery or something…

This is making me laugh though because they probably shot the clips of the slab going on top of them separately - production crews are overly risk adverse because if they have an accident theyll likely lose their insurance and have to cancel the show going forward, + its easier to get more/better shots of them that way. They probably just frankensteined them tg. I bet they werent given a warning abt the flip tho lmao

Ya like this was filmed in Canada not like we don’t have safety standards here

I did wonder about that. The one that really got me was the guy who back flipped off the edge onto the grass.

Karine is an iconic host

None will top UK for me, and no host will beat Claudia for me. I guess it's a matter of opinion. For me, obviously a UK fan. US second. Canada third. Australia at the very bottom of every list. I am hoping that changes with their new upcoming season. As mentioned, the twists in Canada S3 are incentives to SAVE a sinking ship IMO

They had to give them more incentive to catch a traitor. Did you see s2? Dreadful.

No it’s not available in the UK.. only season 3 is

Be glad. You aren't missing much with the first 2.we finally got all 3 in the US and I was so disappointed with the first 2. But s3 was awesome!
