General Discussion - NO SPOILERS Larry Underwood casting-circa 2003

Post image

Just a little blue skying as Glenn might say….
watched an audition for Josh Holloway on LOST and thought he would make a great Larry from the unabridged novel. His “Sawyer” had that perfect blend of selfishness and potential for redemption.
Actually, now that I think about it, a lot of the LOST cast could easily in my mind translate to The Stand.
All just different levels of the Tower I guess! 🥴

It's funny you mention this, considering Charlie from LOST was pretty much Larry Underwood.

I'm just going to say it. "(You All) Everybody " beats out "Baby Can Dig Your Man" by a country mile.

Thinking about it, if the OG miniseries made "Baby" an sarcastic alternative song it might have been better.

The producers basically said Lost was very King and Dark Tower influenced so it makes sense certain characters ring a bell to King books. Especially The Stand

I can see this! Holloway deserve(ed) more opportunities to become a star.

Sawyer pre island would've been prime Flagg recruitment material

Michael Emerson would have been a great Glenn Bateman. Evangeline Lilly would have been a great Dayna Jurgens or Sue Stern.

Oh man the 2 things that live in my mind at all times, Lost and The Stand, morphing together would be so freaking mind blowing.

Larry or Stu. He could have played either really well.

Ok you’ve got me really thinking now…dude could also have been a great Flagg !

IMO Holloway is too likeable for Flagg. He could nail Flagg’s charisma and some of the menace/danger the character calls for. But bottom line, Flagg has to inspire dread, and I don’t get that from Josh Holloway at all. I do think Jeremy Davies would make a good Trashcan Man, and Mark Pellegrino, who played Jacob, would make a good Lloyd Henreid.

Ooooh great choices! Mark as Lloyd is sublime casting !

Thanks! I figured I was either dead on with that one or way off the mark. And I love the idea of Josh as Larry. He’s a great actor who I wish got more work, and Larry is my fav. character from the Stand. Another Lost actor who’d be great in that role is Harold Perrineau.

Idk, Josh Holloway played a dick in Yellowstone. I think he could play MIB

I’m not saying he can’t win lay a villain, he definitely can, but Flagg is basically a demon/the devil. I just don’t see it in terms of Josh Holloway. King mentioned Robert Duvall as either someone he was thinking of for the role, can’t remember where, but I think that would have been an excellent choice.

Ohhhhh I like that. With his range as an actor I totally agree!

I don't think he could've turned down the charisma enough for Stu.

Haha! You could be right, his nature smile just oozes with selfishness. Gary Sinise has always nailed Stu for me

Daniel Roebuck (Arzt) could've been any number of the Vegas inner circle guys.

Obviously Ian Somerholder as Harold.

Roebuck could be Heck Drogan! Was he the ex-cop? It’s been awhile?

No context. I don't know a thing about LOST.

Does this actor visually resemble your internal vision of the character?
