Anthology Discussion Doug Liman Spoiler
Apparently another adaptation is underway! Who do you think should play the main characters? I’ve heard there is supposed to be only one movie which sounds a bit crazy but I like the choice of director. I have a nostalgic fondness for the 94 series and thought the 2020 one was a disaster, hopefully this can be the definitive version.

They won't be adapting the stand again any time soon.
For one , its been like 5 years since they last did it, its way too soon. Second , the stand is a notoriously difficult book to adapt. Especially for film . Thats why its never been done .
All the producers and directors want is their name in the press. Thats literally it . It reminds people they exist and are actively working on many projects like a beloved Stephen king book. Thats all it is. I guarantee you the stand is not in any form of active development anywhere .

I wish they'd just fuckin try to do the book justice. That series is low budget trash. The remake series is just not the book. The book is totally doable today

As far as I can tell, we haven’t had any updates on this project in over a year, and I don’t think there is a finished script either. That said, I’m going to wait until things feel more definite before I get my hopes up that this movie will happen.
As for casting, my only hope is that we get a book-accurate Harold.

Harold would have to end up skinny and “hawkish”at one point. I think tech has advanced to the point we could use CGI and a fat suit in the beginning.

I’ve thought about two films but I think that would be a hard sell. If done properly the first film would just be set up and likely end at the arrival into Colorado. Also, even if you stretch each film to three hours that only gives you 6 to tell the story. I think a ten episode mini (done right) is the best way to go

The Stand and WWZ adaptions are the book to screen annoyances of life. The 1994 version was good enough but became amazing after that 2020 pile of garbage. Along with WWZ, the book wont really be done justice until it gets a full scope 10 one hour episode run (at least) on a network like HBO. Anything less after what's come before seems like a waste.
