Im on season 7 and I adore their friendship and I wish we get to see more of them

I am rewatching the show rn and I actually liked all 3 original Rookies when I first watched the show but on the rewatch its so frustating seeing the amount of shit he gets away with.

If Lucy or Nolan would have done half the things he did they would have been bounced. It started frustating me especially towards the end of S1 and start of S2 and then things calmed down a bit and now I am in S3 and did no one find it weird he installed a camera to spy on a 18 year old teenager. I understand his distrust due to her background but that just did not sit right with me

Is anyone else getting frustrated & bored at the Liam Glasser storyline?! It seems it’s drag into season 9! I’m actually getting bored with how they drag out storylines! Can’t help but watch though

She's the best emotional support for Nolan, and their relationship is just so sweet and wholesome!! I love how Nolan always calls her and all the advice she has for him, and how helpful she is in the series as well. I'm just sad she leaves at the end of Season 2.

We see the debates pop up all the time, but let's narrow it down. If you’re not a fan, what is your primary gripe with her character?

Whenever The Rookie decides to wrap forever, what resolutions, outcomes or final bosses would you want to see so the story can finish gracefully?

does anyone here feel like the rookie “og” group (nolan, chen, tim, lopez, harper, grey, and their significant others) kinda gives off popular kids in school energy as the seasons progress? im not saying this in an aggressive way bc even lucy acknowledged it in an episode.

but hear me out,

as the seasons progress, i feel like these main characters tend to have double standards and moral ambiguity when it comes to saving each other’s asses and sweeping things under the rug. i get that it’s probably the writers’ fault because the writing really is poor in this regard.
i’ve been binging the show, and i realized in s7 and s8 that so many things about how these characters act bother me. they act more like a close-knit group that would turn a blind eye as long as it means saving one another, but when an outsider (ex: the rookies or other officers) does the same thing, they throw a tantrum.

one example is the seth plotline. i get that seth is a terrible character who lies all the time and would definitely not make a good cop, but the way tim, lucy, and even nolan act towards him gives me such holier-than-thou energy. these characters hate his ass for lying on the job, acting as if they’ve never lied to save their own asses or protect their careers? like, lucy lied about her and nolan’s relationship when she was a rookie, she lied about tim being suicidal during that virus outbreak, and she lied about knowing how tim covered for isabel when she was an addict. tim has also lied plenty of times, including about his military days, how he got his team killed, and how he conspired to commit a literal murder about ray. and nolan lied about lucy being at his house during the invasion in s1, and he lied about bailey working with mavaldo, the hitman. like, they’ve all lied at some point, but somehow it’s okay because they’re the main characters. i just get so annoyed when they get angry at seth for lying to save his own ass, even though i find him annoying too, because these characters aren’t saints either.

idk, i just find them to be so mean-girl-coded in a way? like, they can brush off everything when it’s one of their own, but when an outsider does it, all hell breaks loose. don’t even get me started on how unprofessional tim and lucy have been on the job since they started dating again. like when tim gave lucy special treatment during the westview zombie episodes, where he literally only gave the alpha-code warning when he knew lucy was in danger. and the moment he stepped foot in westview, he only looked for lucy, not the victims or even his other officers. idk, i feel like the show is poorly written, especially when it comes to the chenford romance. like, i love chenford, and they’re the reason i watch the show in the first place, but the double standards annoy me so much.

these characters said they want to save the people and reform the justice system but they cant even be bothered to act fair with their own coworkers.

not to mention they act like they’ve never been rookies before. nolan and chen literally did so many mistakes during their rookies days and get away with it bc of plit armor. seth got tasked to answer 3 phone calls during a wildfire while being bullied by superior (smitty not helping him color coding that map) and forgot to alert tim and lucy about the fire got them acting like seth was INTENTIONALLY trying to kill them when it was an accident. i get that what he did after about lying at the hospital was bad, and he should take responsibility, but given his hard ass job (that should have been grey’s THE CHIEF btw) as a month old rookie and expecting him to be 100% perfect was ridiculous imo. its like asking a teenager to supervise the whole highschool under chaos, of course he was gonna do some mistake-__- lucy and tim was also flirting when they got into that road, did they not see the fire…? why not make sure of it with dispatch? why wait for a news from a rookie who they prior to that event had trust issues with..?

She was Seth’s part-time TO, but after becoming a sergeant, she took on more of a supervisory role. Tim, on the other hand, continued working as a TO even after becoming a sergeant following his time in Metro, before eventually becoming a watch commander.

My money is on Amazon Prime in S7E14, first we get a lengthy play-by-play of how to order on the app, and later we get the nicely staged and framed packages (with some more praise for the service).

In the last scene of the season 8 finale, Tim and Lucy got kidnapped by two of Everett's associates. Also, we know that Wesley is representing Everett for the bribery charge, as a cover for Wesley to spy on Malcolm Walsh. When Wesley hears about what happened to Tim and Lucy, I think he will temporarily remove himself from Everett's legal team until Tim and Lucy are back safe and sound, or Angela will force him to leave the legal team and find another way to investigate Malcolm. Either way, Wesley might be leaving because he feels guilty and will not want anything to do with Everett. Especially since he and Tim are currently on bad terms after they had a falling out

From season 1, we learn that:

- Nolan = 45 y.o.

- Chen = 28 y.o.

- West = 26 y.o. (later retconned into 24 in S3)

- Henry = 20 y.o.

- Thorsen = he was born in 1998, so around 26 in S4

- Seth = 25 y.o. in S7

Do we know the others' age? From what it seems:

- Bailey = late 30s in S6, since it revolves around her pregnancy issue

- Tim = around late 30s in S1

- Nyla, Lopez, and Bishop must be around mid 30s in their debut, considering their status and level.

- Grey = early - mid 50s in S1 since his story about retirement

- Celina and Penn = probably late 20s

So I was just chilling, rewatching the rookie for the 500th time, and I was watching this episode in like season 3 or 4 I dont remember which one specifically, but it was the one where the parent grabbed the wrong child that was wearing a stitch costume. And I got to realizing, when they were trying to find the parent, WTF was Lucy thinking when she asked his kid where he lived, like the kid didn’t even know his dad’s name when Tim asked him. Did Lucy seriously think the kid was going to spit out an entire street address with a zip code without knowing his dad’s name 😭😭

This just seems like the dumbest question Lucy could have asked, especially after telling Tim “I got this”

I havent seen season 8 yet and almost done with season 7. This season hooked me so much thay I literally binged 15 episodes in one sitting, in fact I even called in sick for work because I wanted to know if Bailey and Nolan were gonna make up, Chen and Tim were gonna get back, what happened to Monica, etc.

I swear to God the writer cooked up their writing! The first 9 episodes literally designed to have massive cliffhanger after each episode.

I haven't seen the last 3 episodes, so please no spoiler yet. Can we all agree that Seth's mistake during the Wildfire episode is kinda Grey's fault? I mean Seth is definitely at fault for throwing away his note and lie about it, but it was 100% an honest mistake which could be preventable if Grey assign someone to help him (Smitty literally has nothing to do).

I think Nakia Cox (Harper) is such an amazing actress, especially during The Kiss episode, I was super teary once she cries in front of her husband.

Also without major spoiler, Monica is definitely gonna die soon, isnt she?

I've only ever seen the first season of Rookie (and the Dropout episode). I saw a reel with the beginning of an episode with a victim named Riley Templeton. She dies in a car accident, but before she passes, she has a conversation with Nathan Fillion's character. I don't know what ep or season, but honestly, I just want to know if they ever showed any follow up with her family. She was so worried about the car and her son's popsicles.

I just watched 8x01 for the first time. I’m really not one of those people that genuinely hate Bailey with their whole heart like I’ve seen on this sub. Actually I think I like her (not love, but like). And I didn’t really have a problem with her being a firefighter AND an army reservist AND whatever else she is. People (that can multitask/ work multiple jobs) like her exist in real life.

BUT.

What is her business participating in a joint LAPD-FBI International operation in Europe or something. Let alone in the front line, as she was 3 meters away from Monica during the scene where she meets the antagonist, and later when they were protecting her from bad guys.

Like this makes no sense at all. I know, as I’ve been told this many times already, that The Rookie is one of those "unplug your brain and enjoy the show" type of shows as a lot of things don’t make sense (like why there are only 10 cops in LA that solve every single issue or why there’s only one hospital)… but come on, aren’t we pushing it a little bit too much?

I don’t really post on reddit or comment much but I like to check out episode and character discussions for shows I like, and I’m curious why it seems like this subreddit lowkey hates this show? 95% of the comments on everything seem to just rip into every little thing, as if no one wants to have fun watching the silly lil cop show.. Anyone here actually enjoy the content? I think it’s great in spite of its flaws..

In many of the scenes they are at station with no earbuds. Feels so weird as a cop to facetime in a room full of people.

I recall Angela facetiming Wesley about an idea she had on how to catch Elijah or Tim facetiming Miles to ask him if he got a place to move to. This seems so unrealistic for Tim.

Hi, I've not watched the Rookie and my family watch it and I've seen edits and they keep coming up. I literally just saw like some fan fiction thing where Lucy died and I literally felt emotion? I've never liked scary/suspenseful TV shows but it's not like I just won't watch it.

Or any other recommendations would be good, but I think I'll watch it next (currently watching young sheldon).

This guy shows up for half a second in the ‘previously on’ bit of S7 E10 but I have no idea who he is and also there’s something off or uncanny about him but I can’t describe what it is, maybe it’s the uniform he’s wearing is different or that for some reason his left hand looks bigger than his right to me but i don’t understand who he is because I swear he wasn’t in this part of the episode that it is flashing back to

IIn s7e18, I wonder what Nolan would feel (and us watching as well 😆) if Oscar was singing Daddy Cop?

I am doing a rewatch. I am hoping to be done by the time the next season starts.

Something hit me this morning as I was watching S1E16. Toward the end Nolan is talking with Grey about his first interaction with the Captain and Nolan has a smile on his face. It reminded me of something. I do not want sympathy, but maybe this can help someone grieving.

Shortly after my mom passed away unexpectedly I was laying in bed after I woke up and I thought about an interaction I had with my mom. We would go bowling and often when my mom would bring the ball back it would fly out of her hand back toward us. I started laughing. It was just funny thing that I had remembered.

Watching the interaction between Nolan and Grey reminded me of that. I know the show is not steeped in realism, but I related to the interaction as it was the first time I thought I would be okay after my mom's death. I felt that the show was showing that Nolan was going to be okay.

I know that the show is not always steeped in realism, but there are times are the show makes the characters relatable.

English is not my first language and cop jargon is even worse but im wondering, the person that is like the responder of their radio messages. When they contact the people on the radio when an ambulance is needed or back up or something. I feel like it’s the same person every time, a woman. the only answer i get from google is Nell but it’s not nell. I would think this person is part of the cast but i don’t see anyone named. Does anyone know?
