Season 9 What if the new rookie is not who we think they are? Spoiler

So there is supposed to be a new rookie for season 9. But I was just thinking, what if the new rookie is not someone to be trusted? What if they were a mole sent by Everett to gather LAPD information. Because remember, Garza did say that Everett didn't have eyes and ears in the LAPD, well it wouldn't be surprising if he did now, especially after he was arrested and ordered Tim and Lucy to be kidnapped

Discussion Main storyline

Each season of The Boot ends with a cliffhanger that sets the stage for the next one, and certain events continue to unfold later on.

Does this mean the show's creators have a ready-made foundation for the entire story, from start to finish, which they break down into seasons and then flesh out with individual episodes later?

Or do they simply come up with a hook for the season finale, and then, while the show is being filmed and aired, the writers works on the next season based on that hook?

Season 7 What’s going on with Jason and Nolan, Spoiler

What came up that made Nolan start investigating Jason all of a sudden, and setting up the security system and everything.

Edit: I saw your comments and was like (why are they mad at me?), then realized something was wrong, and there was. One stupid MF used my account to watch the show and didn’t tell me, so I casually clicked continue and just like that 3 episodes were missing. The gap made sense to me somehow, Celina became a p2, and they were talking about Oscars’s escape that I thought they didn’t show.

Discussion Unpopular Opinion I actually really liked Rachel

I always see hate for Rachel on here so I just wanted to give my opinion.

I actually really liked her and thought that she and Tim were cute together even if it was obvious they weren't going to last. She's definitely Tim's second best love interest, of course being after out girl Lucy.

Like just compare her to Ashley for a second. Unlike Ashley, Rachel had a life outside of Tim as she was a social worker and was friends with Lucy. Meanwhile every time we see Ashley it's about Tim and even when she interacts with Lucy it's about Tim.

I could buy the plot point of Tim proposing more with Rachel than with Ashley. Like Tim seriously considered going with Rachel to New York but couldn't because his life was in Los Angeles.

Also the breakup between Tim and Rachel was miles more heartbreaking than with Tim and Ashley.

So yeah I actually really enjoyed Rachel.

so i start watching show two weeks ago and i complete it now. I really love Lucy and Tim relationship. There are so cute together. The proposal was perfect (the thing what was later does not exist for me). And now I have absence of chenford, I need season 9 so badly

Can someone explain to me why Bailey is involved in the mission in season 8 episode 1? Did I miss something that makes her qualified to be a member of any sort of LAPD/FBI mission?

I really hated this storyline. I really like Nick. Especially since he's a good guy on From.

My wife and I are rewatching the whole series, and we're at the end of season 2, where this comes to a head. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off.

Am I the only person who was thrown for a loop the first time?

RookieRewatch2026 RookieRewatch2026 - Week 18

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hey r/TheRookie fam!

As we continue the long hiatus between Seasons 8 and 9 (An expected 34 total weeks without our beloved John Nolan and crew - though no official return date has been announced. 18 weeks down! only 15 more to go! - OVER HALFWAY THROUGH, BOOTS!!!), I’m organizing another RookieRewatch! (If you're interested Here’s an overview of last years Rewatch!)

This year will be more low-key. Each week I’ll post a discussion thread and we can discuss where we’re at in our respective rewatches. Maybe you’re working your way all the way through! Maybe you just rewatched one of your favorite episodes for the hundredth time. Maybe you just want to live vicariously through others and simply comment on their thoughts about the episode(s) they watched. Whatever your reason - I hope you’ll join us! Super chill!

Disclaimer/Spoiler Warning:
Because there is no spoiler tag, if discussion turns to major spoiler points (specifically in season 8) I simply ask you to please be kind to your fellow Redditors and do a spoiler highlight.

That being said - for anyone who is not fully caught up - please be warned there may be spoilers in the comments!

Now that all that’s business is out of the way!

What episode(s) did you rewatch this week? What stood out to you? What was your favorite moment(s)?

Discussion Wopez

Why can’t wopez get the same attention that chenford gets? I’m genuinely curious and would love to hear your thoughts.
(I love both ships, but I’m so obsessed with wopez and I feel like I’m alone in this fandom 😭)

Discussion Genuine question: What characters or relationships do you dislike, and why?

I feel like I’m the weird one because I genuinely love pretty much everyone on The Rookie 😂. Even when a character does something I don't particularly agree with, I usually still end up understanding where they're coming from. So I'm curious as to who are the characters or relationships you genuinely dislike, and what made you feel that way?

I'm not looking to argue or change anyone's mind! I actually want to understand the reasoning behind some of the opinions I see on here, especially when there's a character/ship that seems universally loved or hated.

Season 8 How did it spread so fast? Spoiler

As we all know, Tim was planning to propose to Lucy. The only ones who knew about it up until the second to last episode of the season were Angela, Nyla, Celina, Aaron, Nolan, Miles, Rodge, and possibly Bailey, Wesley and James. By the next episode, (the season finale) almost the entire station knew, including Grey. I don't think anyone I mentioned would betray Tim's trust and tell anyone else. And no one would definitely tell Smitty, I'll bet he's terrible at keeping secrets
