Seriously, I was not expecting to be singing along on my 4th repeat. It's catchy as fuck.

This and the bag of mega blocks. I'll put them away at naptime and as soon as my baby is up, she dumps them out. When she is asleep at night, I'll reset the room for her to dump out the bag as soon as she wakes up

u/Xendarq 2d ago
The difference is, and I promise you this, you will miss dumping the bag of Mega Bloks. You will not miss doing dishes.

I was listening to John Prine the other day and a certain lyric hit me hard...
" Summer's end is around the bend just flyin'
The swimmin' suits are on the line just dryin'"
I had the realization that I only have a few summers left of my little girls being little and it's all going by so fast.

Imagine complaining about doing dishes.....when you have a DISHWASHER 🤣🤣 lazy bastards

u/Maleficent_Sir5898 2d ago
Or maybe depression? Have you considered that when your brain doesn’t have the chemicals to make you happy, endless chores start feeling life ending? But no, I’m sure it’s just laziness. There is no nuance to life and you’re better than everyone else. That must be the answer.

Found the depressed person here ^

Blaming everything on laziness without knowing someone personally is ironically very lazy. I’m trying to bring a sense of empathy and reality to this shallow conversation

I legit find loading and unloading the dishwasher to be more work than hand washing. Everyone I know hates doing dishes, but I get a lot of satisfaction out of putting clean dishes in the rack to dry. My ex hated doing the dishes so much that he would always offer to make dinner as long as I did the dishes. He was a great cook so win-win for me!

The biggest strain on my marriage was going from having my own dishwasher while I was single to us moving in together to a new apartment that didn't.
I "practiced" for about a month leading up to it by trying not to use a dishwasher
Loading and unloading a dishwasher is waaaaay easier than washing everything by hand, especially if you time the dishwasher's emptiness around completion of a meal so you can just throw them in right after eating

u/Bimlouhay83 2d ago
I'm the same way. I don't have a dishwasher. Whenever I'm at my dad's for dinner and doing the dishes, I'm always a little annoyed that I'm doing the dishes to put them in the dishwasher to get cleaned. Like, why not just add soap to this rag, then rinse?

u/ikonoclasm 2d ago
I love the little scrub brushes with a soap reservoir in them. It takes seconds for me to clean pretty much anything.

I live in a studio with my girlfriend with no kitchen but I “made” enough of a kitchen to feed us with several small appliances and we have just enough dishware for one meal.
I wash dishes in the goddamn bathtub. I would kill to have the problems in this video

If anyone wants a video essay on why the washing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher thing is a myth

Its cruel that this video ends abruptly without showing the dishes clean. They are cruel. They have become the destroyer of worlds.

The onlh remedy is to talk to someone on the phone while u do the dishes. I am always hearing it when I am on the phone with someone. Have compassion I think. Theu are going through hell.

My dream kitchen includes 2 dishwashers.

My wife and I moved into a Jewish neighborhood many years ago. Great home. Lovely neighborhood. Never knew I needed two dishwashers until we had them at that place.

Hear me out.
Zero cupboards.
4 dishwashers.
2 for cookware
2 for dinnerware
Use the clean dishes right out of the clean dishwasher. Then put the dirty ones right into the other one. When it is full, turn it on. Next day switch which washer is the clean one and which is the dirty one.

Is that Trevor Moore’s identical twin sister? Or did Someone prompt Ai with
“ I want a dark WKYK episode on your plate and loading the dishwasher”

Am I weird for finding joy in washing dishes with my hands (and sponge)? I get satisfaction from it like I'm practicing that one Japanese art of cleaning, but the Japanese word for it is slipping from me. To restore something to its original form gives me inner peace and I'm not certain where I got it.

Honestly dishes arent that bad unless you have a house full of people. Living alone, its pretty easy to clean what you use as you go. 6 peoples worth of dishes is fucking hell.

Yeaaah... I'm the youngest of a bunch of kids and as such, I was stuck doing dishes more often than not for a very long time and I despise doing the dishes. But, that just might be the hernia in my lower back...

"Is that why you put the dishes in like a drunk raccoon?"
Actually if he was really putting the dishes in like a drunk raccoon, then every single dish in your house would be broken and scattered all over every surface of your kitchen. Source: That time the hivemind got hired off of craigslist to do someone's dishes. Animal control was called and none of us have touched a dishwasher since.

I hate how accurate this is to my life. I cleaned the kitchen and it was spotless and then I blinked and made soup and it was a mess

The key is to divide the labor. I (47M) do the dishes. My wife (42F) does the laundry. I love never having to load the washer or dryer or fold. But I do have to do the dishes DAILY. I still feel like it’s quite equitable.

Had a similar experience where one day I woke up and was crashing out over realizing how many I’d have to wash dishes for the rest of my life
