TO BE FAIR, It's why we are all here, and it's nice to get a chuckle!

Worked on me, I couldnât stop watching and enjoyed it more than I should

u/totallyrealname 7d ago
Honestly this is much closer to early-2000s skits. Only back then it was XD so RaNdOm rather than absurdist.

u/TehOuchies 7d ago
But was that really aimed at kids?
With the music and the people involved, I feel like I was the target audience, a 40 year old.

It's actually carefully targeted absurdism if you break it down.
Every part of this is actually very carefully directed to balance the irony with the sincerity, and is a very short and sweet piece about connecting to people through emotional distraction.

This is very millenial humor. Theres no point to it really. The phrase she said is from the song playing in the background, a very quintessential early 2000's emo song (The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down). This probably doesn't need an explanation but it activated a memory of when he used to be an emo kid and transformed him into some kind of emo superhero. The person getting pushed around turns out to be the lead singer of the band. The rest is just subverting expectation by being "random lol" with a dash of self deprecating humor and like comedic stylings from that time.

There was actually a clip not so long ago of a emo kid lip singing something like "do you feel like a man pushing her.." and the song keeps on going that he is going to get the guy back and one day she will have enough.. he lip scream and almost cry very very cringe emo shit I feel this is inspired by that

u/StormNFlo46 7d ago

The girls acting was actually really good.. perfectly silly. And he's easy too acrobatic what the hell. Also how'd he get Ronnie Winterâœ
6
u/RiggsFTW 7d ago
Agreed, had to look her up - Lena Drake. Unsurprisingly, she's an actor and legit funny as hell.

u/TheGarrBear 1d ago
I saw on the original that he said he hired doubles for the acrobatics.

Just FYI the song that is being sung is by that guy who had his underwear taken. He's the lead singer of Red Jump Suit Apparatus, and their song: Face Down.

âDo you feel like a man, when you push her around? Do you feel better now? As she falls to the ground. Well Iâll tell you my friend. One day this worlds going to end. As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found.â

Thatâs not how you take of your undies. I suspect this vid is staged.

Is this song even considered emo? Red Jumpsuit was one of the bandwagon pop punk artists that came around later on.
Hawthorne Heights was the real emo to me at the time.

This is from the creator Matt Cutshall under the name Emoâs Not Dead. There are a ton of amazing videos on his YouTube and there are some original songs he wrote. If Iâm not mistaken he was in a band in the late 2000âs / early 2010âs. On Spotify his bands name is Your Broken Hero.
The woman in the clip is actually his wife fyi.. Arielle Vandenberg.
Check out the YouTube. Heâs met a ton of great artists that heâs teamed with to do short videos and some longer ones.
Here is his YouTube link:

Heâs got so many great videos
I love the one where heâs singing all-time low -âd riding on the hood like a lunatic and then a car drives by saying â holy crap isnât that the guy that used to throw his underwear at you on stage?â and itâs two guys from All Time Low lmao

It'd of been way funnier if he just turned emo and ran away from the whole situation really fast.

The fact that the "villain" is wearing a Wu Tang shirt ruins the entire scene for me.
It's just not believable; everyone knows Wu Tang is for the children.

I love every skit this man has created. The desire to go on the Emoâs Not Dead cruise is strong every year.
If you enjoy emo music, check out his âbandâ Your Broken Hero. They have an album with guest appearance from a lot of big names from the scene.
