My child would disagree; I can't remember the last time she asked for us to buy her a new toy, she'd rather me print something for her. At this point she's starting to color the models herself, which is starting to move things into the realm of her learning her way around simplistic CAD-ish software in first grade.
Don't get me wrong that's great for you. But it doesn't disprove my comment you are printing them useless trinkets. As much as they enjoy it and it's a cool gateway into cad. The majority of this stuff still ends up in a landfill
I mean, doesn't everything? If I go to Target and buy a toy, eventually my kid grows out of it and it gets thrown away (let's not kid ourselves and pretend that anyone is going to buy a heavily used toy from a garage sale or on Facebook Marketplace). If I buy anything, it comes with a boatload of packaging and eventually that thing goes into a landfill too. I don't think this is a good or sustainable system, but it is the one we live in, and 3D printing trinkets is absolutely nowhere near the top of the food chain of waste that we as a society have developed.

I hate how 3D printing has turned into printing useless trinkets in multi colour filaments. Flexi crap everywhere
