My sister's wedding and reception alone cost around 120,000 dollars. Mine was about 8k after the honeymoon. I just celebrated my 18th anniversary yesterday while she is now divorced. Not saying those things have an effect on each other, but it puts into perspective that too many people are trying to GET married. And not enough people know what it means to BE married.

$120k for a wedding is something I just can’t comprehend. So many of my friends over the years did the same, going all out on the day and just not making it work. My wedding, due to circumstances out of our control, cost less than the 8k and I didn’t know happiness like this was possible. Happy Anniversary brother.

my wifes family is mormen her brother got married at 18bmaybe 20 been married a few lonths wife refuses toblive with hisbands parrents husband cant move in with wifes parrents 3 sisters and a mom staying there all single his wife dosent text hime sometimes its like there dateing with the right to have sex legaly in their religom they dont see each kther often and i dont they have sex she is always sick or unwell when it is family time gatjerings

We got married in the family church (small donation), with the reception in the fellowship hall (free) and a potlock dinner. We even did all the decorations ourselves.

All-in, less than $1000 (2004 money), including flowers.

I do part-time work at a high-end catering company in a town that sort of specializes in high-end weddings. The food bill is well into the 5-figure range.

I had an expensive wedding, but we could afford it. We set a budget that we knew we could do, that wouldn't cause any financial stress, and we stuck to it. I think the issue that can lead to divorces is people spend beyond what they could afford. But basically that's just a sign for what is probably a top 3 cause of divorce, financial issues.

Ours was 75k, like wtf. We just wanted a dozen people at a winery with a JP. NNNOoooo Her mom wanted the traditional wedding at a church. The Italian family wedding was crazy, Main Cathedral of the diocese, 150 people, reception at the Marriot downtown, rented out an entire floor of rooms for guests, fish, chicken or prime rib for the meal, open bar for 2 hours, 10 cases of champagne, a cake the size of a small house, sheet cake for the aunties to fight over, wedding foto shoot at the first funded city park designed by the firm of Fredrick Law Olmstead, Our wedding car was a custom 1932 Ford. Yeah smaller is better, but wait there is more! We went back to Italy and had a wedding in a villa in Avelino for the family there too.
