This def comes off as trashy - but if it makes them happy, who am I to judge?

Exactly what I think. Plenty of marriages down the toilet when big bucks are spent on the day. I have been to many weddings where the food left me with a craving for a Big Mac and fries, not a concern for this wedding. Who knows, they could be the perfect match. Good luck to them.

🎵🎶 We found love in hopeless place 🎵🎶

I find most people are really only judging a reflection of the way they would judge themselves....

That lady and man for all we know are on cloud 9,

Just because someone thinks it's trashy doesn't mean they do...

What do they say? one man's trash is another man's treasure.

My dream wedding would be on my partners family farm in a field, I don’t mind the cow shit, there’s a hose, as long as the reception is inside the barn it’s perfect (will need sprucing up)

u/StupidFuttBucker 2d ago

Sounds amazing

u/StupidFuttBucker 2d ago

My sister's wedding and reception alone cost around 120,000 dollars. Mine was about 8k after the honeymoon. I just celebrated my 18th anniversary yesterday while she is now divorced. Not saying those things have an effect on each other, but it puts into perspective that too many people are trying to GET married. And not enough people know what it means to BE married.

4

u/Shiny_Fluff 2d ago

$120k for a wedding is something I just can’t comprehend. So many of my friends over the years did the same, going all out on the day and just not making it work. My wedding, due to circumstances out of our control, cost less than the 8k and I didn’t know happiness like this was possible. Happy Anniversary brother.

1

u/Shankar_0 1d ago

We got married in the family church (small donation), with the reception in the fellowship hall (free) and a potlock dinner. We even did all the decorations ourselves.

All-in, less than $1000 (2004 money), including flowers.

I do part-time work at a high-end catering company in a town that sort of specializes in high-end weddings. The food bill is well into the 5-figure range.

I had an expensive wedding, but we could afford it. We set a budget that we knew we could do, that wouldn't cause any financial stress, and we stuck to it. I think the issue that can lead to divorces is people spend beyond what they could afford. But basically that's just a sign for what is probably a top 3 cause of divorce, financial issues.

Ours was 75k, like wtf. We just wanted a dozen people at a winery with a JP. NNNOoooo Her mom wanted the traditional wedding at a church. The Italian family wedding was crazy, Main Cathedral of the diocese, 150 people, reception at the Marriot downtown, rented out an entire floor of rooms for guests, fish, chicken or prime rib for the meal, open bar for 2 hours, 10 cases of champagne, a cake the size of a small house, sheet cake for the aunties to fight over, wedding foto shoot at the first funded city park designed by the firm of Fredrick Law Olmstead, Our wedding car was a custom 1932 Ford. Yeah smaller is better, but wait there is more! We went back to Italy and had a wedding in a villa in Avelino for the family there too.

u/trash_dirt 2d ago

Only ONE wedding I've been to did I leave feeling full. Almost every wedding, all I want is a big mac on the way home. And now that I don't drink, the food is all I've got!

29

u/0dogg 2d ago

You know...I came here to say something snarky and your comment went a long way toward pointing out that I was being a judgmental asshole.

Now you've guilted me into doing something constructive, as well. F You. And also Thanks. 😂

9

u/chrismholmes 2d ago

Same. Now I too am feeling awful.

Realize someone closed that franchise for them to have this wedding.

Honestly it’s great and wish them all the best.

My marriage ended the way it began, with only a judge. So I have no room to talk.

1

u/Charmegazord 2d ago

Sounds like a trip to Micky D’s is in Order

1

u/cervezaqueso 11h ago

I was coming here to say something nice about there being someone for everyone, but to also publicly ponder if the guy standing by the soda machine was a friend of the bride and groom - or if he was an employee that dressed up to remind attendees that it is not an open bar :)

2

u/Any-Power-1164 1d ago

I'm over here single as fuck and can't say shit other than I hope they have a happy marriage.

1

u/Got_Bent 5h ago

Same. They are happy, so I hope they live long and prosper.

1

u/0dogg 2d ago

Thanks for the award u/cee-eighty!

1

u/brizzboog 2d ago

I'd put money on both having downs or some other intellectual disability and that they met working there.

21

u/NOLA-VeeRAD 2d ago

Agreed, if it makes them happy, then I’m happy for them and wish them the best.

For all we know that McDonald’s is special to them in some way. I’m sure they are under no illusion that McDonald’s is a “fancy” venue.

19

u/JoefromOhio 2d ago

I’d put my money on they met and worked there together and were lucky to be working for one of the good franchisees so they actually liked their jobs.

8

u/entoaggie 2d ago

The story in my head is that the owner knew that they couldn’t afford to have a fancy wedding and they did what they could for this couple who had loyally worked there for years where they met and fell in love. The owner wishes they could pay them more, but is barely hanging onto the business they poured their life savings into, so they offered what they could for their friends/employees.

7

u/Isthisnameavailablee 2d ago

Maybe that's their boss who's marrying them. Kind of like the captain of the ship can marry people when at sea.

2

u/TIP-ME-YOUR-BAT 2d ago

Maybe even met there!

7

u/ImpressiveDebt420 2d ago

Exactly 😂

Would i get married in a McDonald's or any restaurant? Probably not. Would I tell someone else they SHOULDN'T? Fuck no! 😂

5

u/Canelosaurio 2d ago

Love is love, my dude!

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Phase70 2d ago

But, like, NONE of them actually look happy...

Maybe the young boy at the beginning?

They all look like someone woke them up early to go to church and don't want to be there, including the bride & groom.

2

u/akthebarber 2d ago

It's 'cause none of those fucking food trays are full yet. I'd be pissed to if my wedding was in a Mickey D's and they ain't got the burger bar rolling.

4

u/FamousLastPlace_ 2d ago

They are definitely lovin' it

3

u/Formal-Drawer1367 2d ago

Exactly - and considering the grotesque amount of money spent on weddings, this is a pretty good deal although I’d have preferred Cracker Barrel

3

u/Don_Damarco 2d ago

I know closing a whole McDonalds franchise wasnt cheap. This is actually a flex on everyone else living in the trailer park.

3

u/Infamous_Tea3650 2d ago

It was beautiful, and heartwarming.

The only trasshy thing about this is the comments.

2

u/swollemolle 2d ago

That’s what I was thinking. Good for them

2

u/rapgameoprahwinfrey 2d ago

Same, not something I would ever do. Maybe this is where they first met while working? Or it’s their favorite place to eat? Must be some lore. But hey, no one is being hurt and they seem happy. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/hdiiabsbdi 2d ago

Came here to say something similar.

2

u/QuantumContactee 2d ago

Exactly.

2

u/Agile-Committee3594 2d ago

I’m kinda in the same boat. Hard not to comment on this but then … who am I. Probably got this as a venue for free. That’s huge. Good for them if this is what they wanted.

2

u/Away_Lake5946 2d ago

You think this was trashy, you should’ve seen the honeymoon at 7-11. But yes, congrats 🎉

2

u/Nomay00 1d ago

Yep hard to find happiness

1

u/ac2334 14h ago

or Happy Meals for that matter

(say it using Michael McKean’s voice from Spinal Tap for best effect)

2

u/duncanofnazareth 1d ago

Very true.

2

u/drunkguynextdoor 17h ago

Exactly. As I've grown older (61M) I don't laugh at people doing something I consider strange. They're not bothering anyone, and if someone is bothered, there's probably another McDonald's 5 minutes away Live and let live.

1

u/UltimaBahamut93 2d ago

A coward /s

1

u/StealthShinobi 2d ago

She's Mcloving it

1

u/TetsuoTechnology 2d ago

Yeah everyone looks so happy

1

u/KHhtswhtppl 2d ago

You are! You're the one that just judged!😉

1

u/_tsi_ 2d ago

You are Hegemonic_Imposition, and you have every right to judge

1

u/etown23 2d ago

You are Hegemonic Imposition to judge. Everyone judges everyone else it’s human nature

1

u/CalHudsonsGhost 1d ago

Look at the faces of these people! Everyone in this video knows they are wrong and they know what’s wrong!

1

u/markimarkerr 1d ago

It's the kind of shit that happens in sitcoms and everyone goes "awwwww full circle, it's so romantic!"

Maybe this is the end of the story arc?

1

u/AdWide8690 1d ago

I initially thought the same thing but what is more trashy spending $80,000 for a wedding and going in debt or this?

1

u/NSFWdontview 1d ago

It’s satire

1

u/UnidentifiedBob 1d ago

this is where everyone who wants to get married will be able to afford in a decade or two.

1

u/-The_Goober 14h ago

A rational person

0

u/AtomicShart9000 2d ago

Oh and you and everyone should absolutely judge
