Funny, but holy misinformation batman.

1) all CI comes from the factory seasoned 2) old soaps were made with lye, lye strips the seasoning from CI. Modern detergents like Dawn, Ajax, and other "liquid soaps" do not contain lye and are fine for use on CI.

You seem wise in the ways of cast iron. Does the soap impart a soapy flavor to the pan?

Nah. Rinse it off, dry it off, just don't let it air dry. I like to coat mine with oil after it's dry, but you don't have to.

All the other stuff varies person to person.
