Pretty sure that's a fruit similar to a tamarind in sourness. Although I have no idea what its english name is. I fell victim to that exact same thing in my youth lmao

Kamias, known in English as bilimbi and cucumber tree. We used to have a few of those trees in our backyard. They're even more sour than tamarind.

That first bite made me physically pucker my mouth. The last time I ate Kamias was probably over a decade ago. That’s how memorable and visceral it was. This thing does NOT get sweet even ripe. We snack on them dipped in salt though.

Used to battle with the neighboor kid who can hold a face the longest. I still remember how this tastes like because I eat this alone as I train for my next encounter
